Seiously, of course it's stealing. Anytime you use a product paid for by someone else w/o thier express permission it's stealing. (not counting girls borrowing each other clothes)

lol :D

Wow, never heard of that airsnare before...

But let's be honest, someone who runs airsnare is probably smart enough to turn on their wep anyways.
The fun part is that if the offending party has messenger service turned on, you can send them a message of your choice.

i was going to look for this thread because the other day when i was installing my wireless adapter i saw another wlan setup that had the defaults still set(default ssid, default channel, no wep). the only thing they did change was the password on the router.

i will probably go to my neighbors' houses and ask if they have a wlan set up and then tell them that they are not secure and probably have to show them how to change the defaults and enable wep.

Using someone elses wireless is illegal (if you get on the net) it isnt illegal to detect it.
On an interesting side not:

The State of Maine has a new law on the books (might be proposed) that will make the OWNER liable for ANY hacking or criminal act done on their open system.
I am assuming they are figuring if you dont tighten it down, then you are just as responsible.

what if you share a bunch of mp3's through kazaa and the RIAA logs the IP?

Then they'll be logging the IP of the WiFi network that you are sponging off of, which has no connection to you at all. The person whose network you are using will be the one to deal with the RIAA Nazis.
