I've bought three used cars in my life (three cars in my life in fact). First was a private sale and within several months a great many problems had arisen with the car. The previous two I bought from a) a tiny used car lot and b) a larger used car wholesale lot

Both of the last two purchases I'm super-happy with. I don't think there is anything bad with used car dealers - it's the used car itself; and you can get bad or good regardless of where you buy it.

I wouldn't say that... I bought my 1984 Volvo 244GL from a "shady" used car dealer. Heck, I practically had to make him sell it to me. heh

That car went to vegas 3 times, Santa Barbara 2, Big Bear over a dozen, and even once to Frisco. The head finally cracked when I let it overheat due to a small leak in the coolant reservoir. I was unemployed so it sat with the head off for months. That let the cyls rust. It's got a new engine in it now (still putting that last odds-n-ends on it).

But it was a great deal, the dealer was a pretty cool old man, and I'm very happy with him and the car.

I guess the thing is to find a dealer you're comfortable with, and keep in mind that used cars are generally sold "as-is". So check oil, compression, drive it around for an hour or so on service streets and the freeway, and be ready for repair bills.

Ugh. It sounds like a nightmare.

10 bucks says the gremlins are never removed. I would ask for my money back, and look for a car elsewhere.

Wow, that's a lot to pay for a 95 4x4 isn't it?

Anyways, you should have had the truck inspected before you bought it... especially since you knew it was in an accident. It only costs like $100 for a complete inspection, even from Toyota themselves.

Oh well, not too sure what else you can do... im' not too familiar with your lemon laws.

The Lemon Laws are mostly for new vehicles. You can probably get your money back still, but it doesn't qualify as a lemon. A "Lemon" is a new car that goes in for same repair more than 3 times within a certain period of months.

No, the Lemon Laws are for used vehicles more than new vehicles. Besides, even if you have good lemon laws in your area, it's going to take awhile for you to get your money back. First they want to follow it up themselves, or have you do it... if you attempt it a few times, and still don't get the results you want, then you need to file a small claims court suit... then a few months goes by, then you finally get your time in court. So you're looking at around 6 months or so i'm sure.

yeah yeah yeah yeah! I know the truck was inspected BEFORE I BOUGHT IT. sunoco did it. good job they did huh ? they did not notice the bent frame? dorks! :Q

Well I will follow this to the end.

BTW 8500$ for this truck is a good deal here in NY long island. The dealers had the same year truck with more miles for 2000$ more :(
