I have been sent a message with the following text from Paypal:

The PayPal User Agreement states that PayPal, at its sole discretion,
reserves the right to close an account for any violation of the User
Agreement, including the Acceptable Use Policy. Under the Acceptable Use
Policy, PayPal may not be used to send or receive payments or donations for
obscene or sexually oriented goods or services. The complete Acceptable
Use Policy addressing Mature Audiences can be found at the following URL:

******/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=p/gen/ua/use/index_frame-outside&ed=mature

We are hereby notifying you that, after a recent review of your account
activity, it has been determined that you are in violation of PayPal's
Acceptable Use Policy. Therefore, your account has been closed.

You will need to remove all references to PayPal from your website(s)
and/or auction(s). This includes not only removing PayPal as a payment
option, but also the PayPal logo and/or shopping cart. We thank you in
advance for your cooperation. If you have any questions, please contact
the PayPal Acceptable Use Policy Department at paypal-compliance@paypal.com.

Sincerely,
PayPal Acceptable Use Policy Department
PayPal, an eBay Company
Under the Acceptable Use
Policy, PayPal may not be used to send or receive payments or donations for
obscene or sexually oriented goods or services.
WTF?

This is nonsense. I tried to log into my account and it says the same basically.

I know a person who is targeting me for all sorts of hate but I never used paypal for anything other than buying/selling stuff.

I will be calling my lawyer in the morning but WTF? Any lawyerly advice out there?

Normal stuff. I last bought a ring off ebay. I get donations for my forum using paypal too. People pay $5 to give each other silly titles and what not. It's all above board.

I am definitely contacting my lawyer in the morning... this is such bullsh!t. :|

If the titles are obscene or sexual in nature, then Paypal may have a leg to stand on.

How much money are we talking here, total?

The titles are $5 each but I buy and sell $300-500 knives frequently. Couple thousand a month easy.

I think they targeted me because I have Google ads on my site. I hope I can get Google to help me sue PayPal.

I heard all these horror stories about PayPal for years and always thought "well heck, that will never happen to me" Man, was I wrong.

I gotta call my bank first thing in the morning and then call my most excellent Jewish lawyer(I like Jews so don't call me racist) Mr. Cohen in the morning and then I hope to rip PayPal an expensive new asshole. I will let him contact Google as he will know who to call. ;)

I can't believe they are trying to accuse me of such nonsense. :|

Calling Paypal to resolve this might be all you need to do, obviously talk to your lawyer first and go from there.

call paypal and tell them you want to know exactly which transaction or transactions are sexually explicit.

And these donations to your forum... exactly what is on your forums eh, could it be... PRON??

Paypal is scum in regards to this. They'll find the ANY excuse to freeze people's account and either keep the balance, or hold it hostage for months earning free-interest on the money. The practice is at least borderline criminal. You'll definitely need to talk to your lawyer buddy and rip these bastards a new one.

Have you tried just contacting Paypal and explaining your situation? I hate to interrupt the chain of disgruntled anti-Paypal posts, but this is more than likely just a misunderstanding. I wouldn't want to pay a lawyer hundreds of dollars an hour to discuss this when there was still a chance of fixing it for free.

I just got done talking to paypal and they acknowledge that my account is "Limited" and there is no right of appeal.
The young girl I spoke to also could not give me any specific reason why my account is now Limited. She put in a request and someone should contact me at some unknown point in time to explain the unknown reason for limiting my account.

I also received an email from fraud1@paypal.com thanking me for reporting a suspicious email.

Luckily, my last account transfer was made to my bank account and my balance is zero so I am not out any cash but this is still very frustrating. I am gonna call my bank now and make sure that paypal is no longer tied to the account although my Limited status means no money in or out but at this point I do not trust them.

I still intend to contact my lawyer friend who will advise me for free and work on contigency should he decide I have a case against PayPal.

I would be surprised if he'll take this case on a contingency basis (since your damages are at best highly speculative, and at worst nonexistent), but that's his business. Best of luck in any case.
