How is USB or Firewire any less waisted if you never use it? Heck, my computer has 5 USB ports on it, 4 of which don't get used at all! So I guess that means USB isn't very modular, those 4 extra ports should up and dissapear god damn it! Actually, really all 5 could up and dissapear because the one USB device is a printer, and that could easily go on the parallel port with my scanner. Listen, Firewire and USB are fast, fun and conviniant... I'm all for developing newer, better interfaces... However there is no reason in the world to go and get rid of older ports. I beleive some one later in this thread makes the comment that the cost of a motherboard will go down with out these ports. This person obviosly hasn't delt with hardware much... The hardware associated with these ports are so cheap, practically fractions of a penny per device. You won't see a price drop on your fav. motherboard just because it didn't come with Serial or PS/2 devices.

Eh? Don't tell me you're serious?
They are all wasted ports if you don't use them.
If I don't use a PS/2 Kyeboard or mouse, what good are the PS/2 ports now?
Not to mention the benefits to having certain devices in USB or Firewire form. >>
