Normally, I ignore the cries of "liberal bias" in the major media but this is a little off. I'm not sure if Nedra Pickler is on Kerry's campaign staff or just just naturally biased towards him.

From this article
Kerry's bus tour took him by the mines of West Virginia, the steel communities of Pennsylvania and Ohio and the auto plants of Michigan. All four states have lost manufacturing jobs under President Bush, and all four are up for grabs in the presidential race.

I grew up in the "Rust Belt". My father and grandfather both worked in steel mills (my father still does) and I spent 4 summers working in the Melt Shop. These places didn't start losing jobs during the Bush administration they started dieing in the late 1970's. I remember my father losing his job at one mill because it was closing and it was long before either Bush was President.

We have lost quite a few more in the last 4 years, But it was on the decline anyway.

Please show me where she says "...start losing jobs..." Perhaps she said "All four states have lost manufacturing jobs..." So show me where they haven't. Manufacturing has been hit pretty hard during Bush's term.

The manufacturing industry in OH, PA, WVa, and MI have been on the decline for 20+ years. The statement that "All four states have lost manufacturing jobs under President Bush" is so vague as to be nearly comical. Unless you want to consider unions and cheap Japanese steel as political...the loss of jobs in those states isn't the result and any sort of political manuvering by either party. Pittsburgh, PA, Midland, PA and Youngstown, OH industrial areas are nearly ghost towns and have been for a long time. Some industry is returning and there is some recovery but it's not because of any sort of governmental teat to suckle on.

Edit: I mention Pittsburgh, Midland and Youngstown because that is the area I'm most familiar with as that's near where I grew up.

Does anyone (who live is Michigan or otherwise I guess) think that Michigan is a battleground state this election? I highly doubt the majority of Michiganders will be voting republican this year. I could be wrong but I just don't see it. Now Ohio is where these boys should be concentrating their efforts, think Ohio could swing either way this go 'round.

Honestly, I think you have a reading comprehension problem. The quote you provided said that manufacturing jobs were lost under Bush. Period. It didn't say jobs starting being lost... Read it again. And if you disagree with the fact that a significant number of manufacturing jobs were lost under Bush, then prove it. You'd be flying in the face of the facts, but hey - go for it.
