left turns

This is a question that I have been wondering about for awhile now about taking left turns. When you are on a one way street with two left turn lanes, which lane are you supposed to turn into if the street you are turning into is also a one way, that has three lanes. I thought that you were supposed to turn left into the closest lane, but most people do not follow this rule where I live. I can draw a picture of this if there is confusion. Thanks.

The most left lane. I believe it's only legal to make it from the next lane over if the left most lane is a left turn only lane.

The law and what people do aretwo different things. You are correct. They are not. Truth be told, the law is prettymuch retarded because it doesn't take into account street designs and traffic levels that require you to do otherwise to get from one place to another.

Alright, here's a drawing of the situation.

I have been driving for awhile now, it's just weird that this same thing happens at several interections around where I live. Actually, I haven't seen an interesection where most people get into the proper lanes. I just wanted to make sure that I wasn't wrong about this.

that what I thought.

The DOT person doing my drivers test got on to me for not going into the left lane and then moving to the right one. I dont care really, like it really matters. No cop is gonna pull you over for it

You've got it right. Just be a little more assertive w/ your driving. Put your fender out there.
