Left 4 Dead - Expert

Man, this game is INCREDIBLY hard on expert!

TONS of Zombies...

No map to tell you where to go (of course I guess that is pretty realistic)...

I've only made it to the FIRST safe house!

DAMN!

Its not actually that hard once you get to know the levels and know where all the drop spots for power ups and guns are. I can usualy beat all levels on expert myself with no human help.

I have logged over 1000 hours of gameplay though in L4D and 500 into L4D2.

It is alot easier with GOOD human help, freidnly fire is deadly on expert though so get GOOD human help as all crappy players will do is kill you faster and constantly piss you off.

I don't remember if singleplayer in original L4D includes 3 bots but if it does it's not THAT hard, you'll just have to adjust your strategy. You will have to let your bots die, a lot, in fact all the time. As they die zombies will swarm on them and you'll just shoot zombies as they pound bots on the ground (aim for heads). After you kill off zombies get your bots up, if they die, just free them in the next spawn room. It's not that hard, in fact I'd take 3 bots over 3 idiots that constantly bleed you and take all the items in game and then wasting them. At least bots heal you and don't bleed you. The only problems playing singleplayer are specials, bots are notoriously bad at freeing you from specials, and finale. Finale is hard to survive in singleplayer. You will have to prepare by getting throwables and setting up gas cans, but it can be done.

My friends and I get together and play survival mode. That is crazy hard seeing as most the goals are 4 minutes or more.

Weapon and other items are randomly placed, their location changes each time you start a level. I'm sure you probably know that though and I think what you mean is that despite being "random", items still tend to show up in the same general areas.

Also it's not very hard to play expert by yourself because that means you get 3 aimbotting teammates that can shoot through each other and yourself with no worries of friendly fire. Expert with 4 humans (and everyone surviving to the end) is definitely more difficult.

I don't know who you're playing with, but having played Expert almost nightly for the past 3+ years with a large number of people, unless they are totally incompetent or TKers, the AI/bots are almost ALWAYS inferior.

-The AI cannot use grenades (mollys or pipes)
-Cannot use items (propane or gas tanks)
-Cannot form up coherently in choke points
-Cannot take cover in 'intelligent' areas during events
-Is utterly USELESS against Tanks (huge in Expert)
-Sucks at rescuing you from Smokers (often BACK UP towards you while shooting to melee you free, rather than shooting the smoker itself to free you)
-Often times runs through fire (incapping or killing itself in the process)
-COMPLETELY mismanages health packs and pills (often healing, and therefore wasting a kit if their health dips below 45, an ultimate expert No-no)

...and just generally fucking things up.

Yeah, they can't hurt you (with gunfire), or each other, and you can get through the first couple of areas mostly fine with them tagging along, and sacrificing them to move on. I know, I've done it. I'll play SP when no one is online. But beating the finale of something like Blood Harvest or No Mercy or Death Toll with only AI teammates on Expert, without using some kind of trick or glitch, is virtually impossible.

I love the LFD games, but the thing that makes me not play the game anymore is that there are too many retards playing that game that know nothing of teamwork. I like to play the game only on Expert, but half the time the team falls apart after the first segment.

If any of you guys are up for it, I'd love to play with folks who communicate, stick together, and actually knows how to kick some zombie asses.

Done them all. Doing all the missions on realism expert mode can only be done with good players all working together and using VOIP.

I don't consider VOIP cheating because if there was a zombie apocalypse and I was running around with people in the middle of it, I'd be yelling at them and talking to coordinated our survival.

Expert on L4D2 is much harder than expert on L4D.

I had a harder time with L4D, but maybe that is just because I've played L4D2 first and a ton more. So I know all the weapon timing, dmg, spread, etc.

L4D tanks are definitely a pain since they won't stop killing a downed survivor plus they run faster when on fire. Its also a lot darker game with trees that are harder to see through (easier for zombies to get closer). I did notice that you could shove unlimited, but zombies could get through. Where as with L4D2 you can only shove a certain amount of times, but zombies can't get through.

L4D was a turtle together game, L4D2 you have to keep at least a slight distance from each other. Magnum added to L4D2 which if you've got 50%+ accuracy (I'm normally 54%+) then it makes everything simple.

Not really. Not at all. I would say it's easier in many ways, like the aforementioned tanks not killing a downed survivor, or the weapons (e.g. L4D2 Sniper rifle is godlike compared to the hunting rifle in L4D1).

Some of the finales are tougher, but the actual game is easier.

If you're playing it singleplayer it sucks. Humans make it much easier as AI sucks.

uhhh thats very subjective.

There are conditions in which i prefer the AI over human players.

AI's at least wont FF ya, and bring your health down to nothing in 1 shotgun fire followed by the comment "tehehe.. oops."

actually no... lol...

L4D2 is a lot harder because of the new added specials like spitters.
L4D if you turtle up like people said, you can pass any map.

There is no thing as constant waves after waves like there is in L4D2.

And the Original hunting rifle has better accuracy when your running.
Yeah true you shouldnt be running while firing a sniper, but u can do it with the hunting rifle.

Sorry, don't buy it. Spent far too much time with each.

Things like the new specials in L4D2 don't really make it any harder, just different. Luckily both games are superbly balanced for the most part.

As far as the hunting rifle vs. the L4D2 sniper rifle, lol, 15 more rounds per clip, plus faster rate of fire is still infinitely preferable to slightly increased accuracy...while running.

And one word: Defibrillator.
