if by "off" you mean in standby, yes. if by "off" you mean you have it hard switched to off on the back of the console, then no.

you can actually turn on your PS3 remotely from your PSP and browse the XMB and PSN store through your PSP.

That sounds pretty cool. Too bad it's limited to the PSP, though.

Ya, the fact that you have to purchase a $170 piece of hardware to do this makes me disagree with pur"e"beast's opinion that the PS3 "owns" the 360 in this regard.

a lot of people don't have to go purchase this $170 piece of hardware, a lot of people already owned one before the ps3 was even released.

I own a PSP and a PS3, and even I think you're stretching it. It's hardly convenient, and it's worthless when you're away from your PSP. When NXE comes out in a week or so, you'll be able to queue up downloads from the web - no special gear required. That's pretty friggin' nice.

I saw the demo on XBL, but I'm on silver at the moment, so... alas.

Just because you may already own a PSP doesn't magically put $170 back in your pocket. As of right now on the PS3, you have to (or had to) shell out at least $170 to have the functionality. As of next week, you can do the same thing for free on the 360 with no extra purchase required, nor does it require you to have already bought something in the past.

well not really, i traded a DS for a PSP straight up :p

also, queuing up something is hardly even comparable to actually downloading stuff remotely.

LMAO - yeah, but you hate everything though. :p Or to put it less sarcastically, you have ridiculously high standards.

I thought the sound was fine. The controls were fine. The graphics are perfectly fine...there have been worse on the 360 and the graphics work just fine for this game.

Loved the atmosphere of the game and how the two demo maps are set up so that you can get attacked from any direction at any time.

Coming around a corner and stumbling into a Boomer who explodes goo on you and brings a wave of zombies on top of you was hilarious.

Watching a horde of zombies scale a fence or try to climb out of a hole to get to you was very cool.

Flying across the map after getting hit by a Tank was a whoa moment.

Enjoyed the demo in single-player. I wanted to get familiar with the controls and the maps before joining co-op. Can't wait to try a co-op game now.

DO IT.

Seriously co-op is a blast. I really have a good time with it except when someone is stupid enough to disturb a witch.

The PS3 does have an advantage of staying in a standby state at all times (unless you're one of those people who switch it off in the back). But like I said before, from what I understand, if you want to leave your 360 on while you're away at work, you can choose to download something over the net and it'll automatically start since the 360 is on.

Granted, not the ideal solution for the 360, but it's possible.

they should come up with a standby mode for the 360. it basically has one now, with the d/ling after shutdown. if they could get it to kick on into that state when a new d/l is queued and start the d/l, it would be great, and you wouldn't have to worry about the 360 and it's not actually on, except for the fans and stuff.

as for the demo...i thought it was awesome. would love to pick it up next week, but i doubt any of my friends are gonna get it, and this type of game won't be any fun to me without friends to play with.

Well after playing this I'll give it a pass for now. It's just a complete 'shoot everything that moves' clusterfuck with zombies. It's pretty awesome to get bombarded by zombies but all in all I was expecting something different. I think the source engine is showing it's age, as this game didn't look great. I also though the zombie animations were pretty clunky at times. The zombie AI seemed pretty off as I'd round corners and see a group of 3 or so just standing there waiting to be shot.

All in all a pretty 'meh' experience for me.

I tried both also but i like the the 360 version better for some odd reason.

only if it's for the Wii :p

and just because i think something sucks doesn't mean i have ridiculously high standards. i think this game clearly feels like it's a game designed for PC and ported over to Xbox360. the fast paced and movement of it feels very "PC-like" if you know what I mean. also the graphics are from an old engine so it's obvious why it looks like crap.

my most played game this past year is probably hot shots golf on PS3, burnout paradise being 2nd, how's that for high standards!

I played single player on the demo and I really wasn't impressed. From all the hype, co-op must be drastically different or something?

Yeah. Play co-op on expert and it gets a lot better. On my last run through I fought at least three each of boomers/hunters/smokers and saw a tank and two witches. Hitting the car alarm for kicks before you run to the safe room? Yeah, no. NO.

If anyone is up for a run through I'll be around all day.

I've only played co op and still am not impressed. Maybe the mode were you can play as a zombie would be cool but the demo doesn't include that.

Played the demo tonight, and personally, I think it's horrible. The Source engine is really showing it's age and the game generally looks bad. I disliked the very fast movement of both the player and zombies, and the control was way too loose for my liking. And this might be a by-product of my playing on the easiest settings, but all the zombies seemed to simply stand facing a wall or just stand in the middle of the street, letting me shoot them for a very easy kill even when getting to within 20 feet of them. Add to it that nearby zombies don't seem to realize what's going on, I was just running through the street shooting them one at a time with no retaliation whatsoever.

I personally won't be touching this one with a 30-foot pole, but part of it is that I know I'll have absolutely no friends who'll buy it, because that seems to be the only redeeming quality of it IMO.

Umm yea cus you played it on easy......I've been playing this on PC and try bumping up the difficulty to at least advanced. Normal is still too easy. I have yet to pass it online on expert. Also some of you guys must have some crazy high standards for graphics. I think the game looks fine. It's not horrible looking but I guess when you have GOW2, you expect every game to look like that from now on.

definitely try it on expert, it's very challenging and makes it a lot more strategic. if you run off on your own, you WILL die.

graphics are fine for me.
maybe it's my love of all things zombie, but this demo is kicking ass. the controls feel great for a FPS on console, and the AI is cool because it's always different. I also love how if you take too long another boomer, horde, smoker, etc. will come find you.

Let me tell you about this little "gimmick" with remotely browsing the PSN store on your PS3 from your PSP, it is just about WORTHLESS. If you browse the store and choose to purchase a movies/show, guess what? You can download it remotely from your PSP, but you sure as hell can't watch it. WTF is the point of that? Oooooo, I can remotely download from my PSP. Who cares? I have NO use for that, and I doubt 99.9999% of anyone else does either. I basically shutoff remote control on my PS3. Just worthless.

That being said, queuing on the 360 seems MUCH more useful.

And when the hell am I going to get unified voice chat on my PS3 Sony?!!

haha, me and a friend went through the demo last night on Expert. god, we got owned on the subway level. took 2 tries to get through the first level. i don't even know how many it took on the second. kept getting hit with boomers and smokers. then there was always a tank about halfway through. 2 times, there was one right at the bottom of the first staircase. that was insane. and even if we got past him, a witch always showed up and owned us. i knew to turn off the light and all, but our 2 AI guys kept startling her. the AI is RETARDED in this game. my friend finally got pissed at Louis and killed him for like 4 tries straight.

also, what's up with weapons not always spawning? sometimes every table had the good weapons and there were pipebombs in some places, but sometime we didn't get anything other than our standard weapons and maybe one molotov halfway through the level. super hard to kill a tank with a pump shotty and an uzi.

Remember it randomly spawns stuff in different places. Sometimes we've gotten the better guns really early in the game and sometimes not at all. Also the AI for your teammates aren't that horrible as you make it out to be but it's obviously better to play with good people.
