If it was like the first demo they took it and all the servers for it down when the game hit stores.

I guess you missed it by a week. :( I was just playing with it last Wednesday. It's not showing up on my games list anymore so Valve took it down.

Steam removed it from my list as well.

It's still in the Steam folder though; i can launch it from there.

Ah I was thinking this had happened but I kept seeing it in my games list and on Steam player stats. I was going to uninstall it because I didn't play it much after initial few days, and need HD space. I guess it decided for me. I wonder if it deleted all of the files?

edit: It didn't. Had to use Add/Remove which launched a Steam window to confirm deletion. Of course, now it's like Day of Defeat: Source which I recently removed. Clicking Steam games from Add/Remove just brought me to Steam. So I deleted files from Steam but the entry is left in Add/Remove. With L4D2 demo, it actually brought up a Steam window, but it still left the entry in Add/Remove. I don't know why that's not been fixed.

It disappeared for me as well. It's a shame, because I only had a few minutes to play with it and it was running like crap.

I really wanted to tweak the settings to see if it could run OK before I bought it, but I guess I'll have to buy it to try it at this point.

I liked the old-school non-steam non-DRM demos, which you could play whenever.

Steam will likely have a free weekend demo sometime, which will let you play the entire game.

Still playing the demo with friends on our LAN. I control when steam can phone home.

Still waiting for my copy from Dell (11/24 order). Lots of other places have it for $30 now.

Same here but cannot seem to play online.

Yeah likely they disabled that.

I can heartily recommend buying the full game :D
L4D2 demo was pretty shit actually, made me worry about the full game, which it turned out was better than i expected.

Way better than the first, the guns are so much better. Its funny in the first one it was all about the auto shotty for me, now i use the 30 round semi auto snipers rifle whenever possible. The AK47 rocks too i like the slower rate of fire. And the chainsaw is just plain fun.

Left 4 Dead 2 sucks mainly because of the new characters. I miss Bill, Fransci, Zoey, and Louis.

I agree. the demo was not very good but the actual game is great. I've poured in way too many hours

Chainsaw is great when swarmed, zombs just melt before you. Hell if I've got one with enough gas in it I'll go kick a car alarm vehicle just to bring 'em on.

Two other great additions:

1. Nade launcher. Kinda worthless a lot of times because too much team damage risk, but if someone in your group has one you don't even need to fear a tank.

2. Bile jar. It's hilarious to see a horde of zombies kicking the shit out of a witch.
