I heard something about Walter Payton going to a gun show.

Seriously, being a musician, I can tell you it is nearly IMPOSSIBLE to purposely sing something one way so it has a reverse message. Also notice how the lyrics make no sense? This is no different than picking out shapes out of clouds.

They wish they were that cool.

EDIT: Oh yeah, and Stairway to Heaven is the WORST song -- EVER. 100% cliche.

Well yeah, it's cliché now because everyone wants to make something like it. Back when it came out in '71 there was nothing like it before. The composition and arrangement of the song are pure genius.

100% pure crap.

In fact, many of their songs have references to the Hobbit and LOTR. It was these lyrics that confused illiterate hippies and they guessed that they were about the debil.

While I think the "play Stairway backwards to hear the Satanic message" is a total myth, what is known about Led Zeppelin is that they were heavily influenced by 1930's blues singer/guitarist Robert Johnson, who told people that he sold his soul to the devil at a crossroads in the middle of the night in order to get his skill, and that Page is an occultist.

Otherwise, I'm a big Zeppelin fan (except for some of their recent sell-outs).

edit: and yeah, Stairway is GREAT song, just ridiculously overplayed... kinda like Hotel California. I prefer their earlier more bluesy works (I & II) anyway.

Sadly it's the masses who know zeppelin only by that song who probably give you that impression. I can barely stand the damn song, and it's entirely because of the fact that it's been played 15 trillion times on every radio station in the world.

Hahahahahhaa, that has got to be the worst comparison evar. WTF is up with the "toolshed"? I mean come on... I could write any lyrics out and if you read them as you listened, they would look correct.

Oh yeah I love "Stariway to Heaven" by the way, but I like "All of my love" and "Dancin Days" more. "Kashmir" is pretty damn good too!

Azazyel was referring to a Simpsons episode where the navy uses the lyrics of Bart's boy band for subliminal navy recruiting.

Him turned around on the back cover of Sgt. Pepper (shorter than everyone else which apparantly wasnt the case).... that small statue on the front pointing the rose (meaning death) straight at Paul....

Gotta love imaginations.

Smoking a cigarette, not looking at the camera, etc. I remember that album cover well. Wasn't the license tag on the beetle behind them supposed to mean something too?

On the cover of _Abbey Road_, a VW has the license plate "281F," which can, of course be read, as '28IF' and denotes that John (born in Oct, 1940) would have been 28 when _Abbey Road_ was released (Sept. 1969) IF he had lived. Also, the use of the "281F" plate is really a clever clue-within-a-clue, since the substitution of '1' for 'I' must have been inspired by the fact that _Abbey Road_ was released only *1* month before John's birthday. Possibly the poignancy of that juxtaposition was what inspired the decision to mention John's age (had he lived) on the cover rather than George's or Ringo's (presumably the decision to not refer to all their ages was motivated by the difficulty in parking three cars so one could read all their license plates).

Cool! I do remember that now. Don't ask me why I didn't think to look it up.

Yeah, I hope they are satanists... it won't make them rock any less, and they get props for being original. :)
