They have a LED Flashlight there for $11.96 it takes 2 AA batteries and the buld lasts for oh 11 years. The battery life is substantial also cause the LED's use very minimul energy. I dont know what you guys think but its a good deal to me.

They are very reliable. You dont have to worry about the bulb going bad at the worst time and the batteries last a long time even regular batteries

I used to make my own LED flashlights when I was a kid. In the early eightys I had my regular flashlights taken away by my parents because I would stay up past bedtime and read. Then I found that with an LED from some broken toy, a 9 volt battery, and some tape, I could make a light to read by. Sometimes I wonder if all those hours spent straining my eyes with that limited illumination made a difference in my sight. 😕
Sorry for the OT. Just hadn't thought about it in years but was reminded by this post.

Danzilla, you poor poor child (when you were a child). If i had a child that would rather read then sleep. I would encourage him/her to read. Unless your parents had a good reason to cut off your reading' desire, I think that's just sad 🙁

BTW: great lites.. How big are these? hand held or decently large?

Ha!

Just to be silly.

yeah, i'd like to know about the utility / brightness.

But reading by LED. Kicked my funny bone.
Was that PlayBoy or some such other such similar ilk? 🙂
What sort of infra-red vision have you been developing???

Just teasing and kidding.

Well, in my parents defense, when your 13yr old is staying up reading sci-fi and fantasy novels till one or two in the morning, some moderation is required. For some reason I don't think I learned much in my morning classes at school. Then again, junior high was a mostly waste anyway. 😛

Any LEDs for ravers?

To any guys that have maglites or something similar, you can go to LED Corp and pick up a replacement LED bulb that is focusable. I have the 3-cell PR bulb version and haven't changed batteries in over a year with heavy use. The light is as bright as it was when the batteries were fresh. Estimated battery consumption to date is about 50 hrs. They're not as bright as the regular bulbs but I never haver to worry about being left in the dark.

You can also read about many different typs of LED flashlights at LED Museum

Maybe I should devolop and patent this before mentioning it, but what the hell.

FORGET Compact Flourescent lights, lets make an LED lightbulb!!!

I'm gonna raid the LED bins at work tomorrow and build it!!

I've seen them online, can't remember where. I can find the link if you want it. They're quite expensive, though.... About $80 per bulb... (Has about 20-30 LEDs in different arrays).

Here's the link to the house bulbs... They have bulbs for EVERYTHING. Only problem with LEDs is that they're too pricey right now.... That'll change, I'm sure...
