LED fans

How long are they supposed to last?

I bought several from SVC, the Vastek ones, and they lasted month, before they stopped lighting. Well they still are lit, but very dim, not enuf to illuminate the area around the fan. Once a while they burst, and become normal and then when I turn the comp off and back on, they return to their dim selves again.

Are the LED fans connected to a voltage lowering device (ie rheobus or something)? If so then the LEDs will be dimmer with the lower voltage. I have some LED fans I bought from SVC about 4 months ago that still work as bright as the day I got them, assuming I run them at full voltage (which I rarely do, lower voltage=quieter system). If you aren't in a similar situation, I am not sure, but I believe standard LED lights have a lifetime of like 50,000 hours or some such.

try using power from a normal conncetor. fans like that only flicker with too little power. my svc ones do that when i turn down the fan speed knob

Sounds like your voltages are way out of wack. LEDS have a lifespan of 100,000 hours. Thats 11.4 years!
LEDS are very resistant to shock, temperature and just about everything else.

Leds are very sensitive to voltages however. Even 1 volt over its maximum will fry a LED, remember they are basically made up of the same things your CPU is. Either the fan is faulty or the your voltages are messed up.... but if the voltages were off then you would have alot more going wrong. So I'm not exactly sure.
