Well, I googled "led eye damage" and "led health hazard" and came up with zilch. No studies proved any link between LED lighting and eye damage or ill health. There is some concern that LED lights above 5000k (this is beginning of the blue end of the wavelength) could be harmful with prolonged exposure due to mimicing the sunlight spectrum and the aging effects to the eye that could result. But nothing definitive, or even remotely convincing.
If I were LED-PERMANENT-EYE-DAMAGE, I'd be more worried about ccfl backlit LCDs. There's actually more evidence about the effects of prolonged exposure to ccfl lighting, including sunburn-like symptoms on the skin, headaches from the electromagnetic radition, joint pain, eyestrain, and of course disposal problems with the mercury and the people who have to handle and work with it. There is a British study on ccfl's (with bulbs, not monitors) that linked short term exposure to some health symptoms, especially for people with Lupus, but I can't find it now. I personally have suffered from rashes on my face with both CRTs and ccfl LCDs during really long work hours on the computer. Haven't tried LED backlit monitors yet though.
Maybe if LED-PERMANENT-EYE-DAMAGE took off his tinfoil hat, the LED death rays wouldn't reflect into his eyes as much.
