lebron is becoming the next kobe

when he first came into the league, he seemed quite humble and decently educated.
he presented himself well in pre/post game interviews. he played team ball, was a great leader despite his age. and of course, he was a great all-around player, one of the best.
i thought to myself, my... what a guy. has a great head on his shoulders, he lets his game speak for him, doesn't seem full of himself. and he's only 20.

now, after a few seasons, the true lebron is starting to show.
his glare at opponents after dunking on them. his cockiness during interviews, proclaiming himself as an equal to magic, jordan, bird, kobe, etc.
my latest knock on him, poor sportsmanship after losing to the magic. he lost and stormed off the court into the lockers, then ignored reporters and left the stadium.
no congratulations, no handshakes, no gg to dwight.
his reasoning? he's a competitor and he's not there to congratulate the winning team.

next thing you know, he's going to pull a kobe and demand a trade for a real all-star (not another cocky, all show-no go Mo), or else he's leaving cleveland.

sorry LBJ, you have the potential to be one of the best players, but you're following kobe's steps. great player, but hated by even his teammates.

Yeah, he could have handled that better...and I won't be surprised at all if he leaves cleveland.

The really irritating weekly-sports-guy on the Mark & Brian show this morning said that Lebron James is the next Michael Jordan.

I bet Portland is kicking themselves right now :p

He might be bad, and get worse worse with more time. But zero chance he'll ever be the next Kobe, there's only one Kobe and it would be impossible to reach Kobe's level of douchiness. The thing about Kobe is, it's not just his balling, or his attitude. He truly is a douch on every level as a person. I think James is still a good person, even if he is way over cocky. When all is said and done Kobe will reign as the worst of the worst all time in sports. And there's a lot of "competition" in sports when it comes to assholes. Kobe can safely hold this title forever.

meh who cares, he was probably just frustrated as hell because he did all he could in his power to try and get to the finals and was not getting help from his supporting cast.

the only reason they do that crap anyways is for the media.

making a big deal about his actions is fucking ridiculous.

Everything I've read says that LeBron is a great teammate and a great lockeroom guy. The media love him because of how accessible he is... in fact, the only time he's ever walked out of an arena without saying anything to reporters is after the Magic win a few days ago. Personally, I can't blame him. The expectations were there. It looked like the team was there. This was supposed to be their year and they blew it (or got exposed, depending on how you look at it). So, yeah, fault him for walking off the court, but remember it's really the first time he's ever done that and, IMO, it makes sense.

As for his on-court actions, again I have zero problems with what he does. He's a competitor. He gets fired up. He tries to intimidate. Since when are basketball players supposed to be nice? After laying down a dunk or slicing and dicing your opponent's defense, why shouldn't you show a little emotion? Remember that play Howard got that technical for talking after the play? Yeah, that technical was so fucking ridiculous that the NBA completely rescinded it.

God forbid we let players care about the game or let their emotions show every once in a while.

I can think of 2 players in the NBA who I don't think are complete pieces of shit: Dwayne Wade and Gilbert Arenas. If anyone knows of any others, please let me know?

we'll gladly take you in Chicago LBJ.

2011:
Cavs - Mo, Booby, Delonte
Knicks - Eddie Curry...and Eddie Curry
Bulls - Rose, Deng, Hinrich, Thomas, Noah, Salmons

hmmmm, who has the best title chances?

why can't you be a great player and a nice guy? those aren't mutually exclusive.
what's with these NBA sized ego's?

dwight howard seems the closest to a genuine good guy great player, but of course he's nowhere near the level of lebron/kobe in terms of ability.
tim duncan is another.

Wasn't it proven he didn't rape her and she was just some skanky scumbag who wanted money?

Kobe's a d-bag, but calling him a rapist is a bit much.

There are a lot, Duncan is a great player and a team player, Shaq is the best big man the game has ever seen and is generally loved. I bet most of Kobe's teammates dislike him but don't speak out due to fear and the fact he's the biggest reason they might win a ring. I could see many going on to speak very badly of him once they retire. It's sad the only real thing it takes to get into the hall of fame is your ability. If they factored in shit like being a team player and how they handled themselves after not winning a title. Kobe wouldn't be accepted. I predict Magic takes this, and Kobe goes on to blame his teammates and cry "I WANT TO BE TRADED TO A REAL TEAM!"

How is Lebron a 'complete piece of shit'? Because he got upset after a loss? Really? Yes, he acted like a child, but everyone does at some point.

Others:

Lebron
Dwight Howard
Ray Allen
Kevin Garnett
Shaq
Steve Nash
Tim Duncan

Eh, I'm tired of typing. There are many more that aren't pieces of shit. Way more non-pieces than pieces. Way more.

I take it you never read the police interview before his lawyers got to him. There is a reason they were fighting tooth and nail to keep that out of court records.

I don't hear anyone accusing Lebron of cheating and giving std's to anyone.

I don't agree with not congratulating Orlando but one kink in his armor (that he'll learn from) makes him on his way to being a so-called rapist?

That's a fvcking cowardly conclusion. Lebron has shown as much class in the league and outside it as anyone in the league imo.

I watched a minute or two of the second half of that last game. Lebron looked frustrated and angry as he played, like someone who cared about winning, knew he was going to lose, and wasn't happy about it. He should have stuck around after the game, but I can understand being angry and storming off.

From what I've seen (and admittedly, it's not much) he has a loooooong way to go before he's as douchey as Kobe.

because you ran out. there aren't that many. most players are thugs that would probably be dealing drugs or committing other felonies if they weren't in the nba.
