LeBron agrees to three-year, $60M deal with Cavs

Really surprised that Vegas now has the Cavs as the favorite over the Spurs/Thunder to win the championship next year. Considering that the Spurs entire cast are back and they just beat the 'big 3' Heat, including James, I find it an 'emotional' pick not based on logic.

To be fair, beating the Big 3 last year wasn't exactly a hard thing to do. While, I think it is silly to have them over the Spurs, I could see them beating the Thunder. The Thunder are pretty much the Durant and Westbrook show. I'd take the James and Irving show over that.

Considering how poor the East is, this makes the Cavs instant Finals contenders without a doubt.

The only problem I see with getting Kevin Love is that he likes to shoot outside a lot. He's a good shooter, but when you're big is shooting from long range, that means he's not down low fighting for rebounds. In other words, they won't beat the Spurs.

I'm not going to argue the Thunder pick as I think Westbrook is a bad wheel on the team (I think they would be better to get rid of him). The Spurs, on the other had, are pretty darn solid (getting older, but solid).

With that said, the Spurs didn't just win the championship this year, they kicked the shit out of the Heat. Irving is a good offensive player but I'm not sold on his defense. As for the rest of the Cavs, Wiggins is a freshman and we all know that they are 'unknown' (hell, they might trade him for Kevin Love).

Time will tell I suppose.

Kevin Love shooting is a good thing for any team with someone like Lebron. However, I do agree, they will have trouble against the Spurs. Mostly, due to the Kevin Love not being particularly strong on defense. They have shown they can adapt to a stretch 4 (playing only Duncan or Splitter, and never both, letting Diaw play outside against the 4) and have near perfect play when it matters.

You're all forgetting about the Heat... think of the cap space we just cleared up!!!!

Who are they going to pay with all that money? Melo is pretty much the last big free agent, and he is going to the Bulls (otherwise, I will stab him). They will resign DWade for 4 and rebuild in the next couple years. They made a good move in the draft getting Napier (even if Lebron and Bosh left) and he will help them.

Finally, the stupid Big 3 heat will be disbanded. Bosh will go to Houston, LBJ in Cleveland, and no one wants Dwade so he's stuck in Miami.

Houston's in a little bit of a pickle - I think they have to sign Bosh before they match Parsons Dallas offer. If they match Parsons first, they can't do it or take a giant cap hit (not sure). If they're able to do both, they're looking very strong for next year.

Heard on the radio the Cavs are 4:1 champs next year (favorites) from 60:1 pre-trade.

Now all the other dominoes can start falling, the king has landed 🙂 I assume Bosch will take the max deal and head to Houston, Lin will go to LA. Not sure where Melo will end up or who will trade for Love, but the guy who probably really got screwed in this is Wade. He's not going to get nearly the same money as he would have gotten if he had just opted back in.

Who knows, maybe Wade will go to Cleveland, they have the cap space for it. I keep seeing rumors about Love going to CLE for Wiggins. If I were the cavs, no way would I do that. Wiggins could be a bust, but his upside is much higher than Love.

I thought the path to get both was difficult for them, and they need Bosh to decide in the next 2 days or so.

Not particularly difficult. They can sign Bosh for max and take Parsons with the Bird Rule (allowing them to retain a player and go over the cap), however, they will be into the luxury tax. I think they have $71m not counting anyone except Harden, Howard, Bosh, and Parsons.

Not even close, especially with Lebron there. Wiggins isn't a shooter and Irving isn't a good catch and shoot player. That seriously limits the space Lebron would have. Love, on the other hand, is a great shooter. That brings at least one guy out of the paint, giving Lebron a lot more room or a place to dump it off for an open 3. Wiggins will be a bust.

According to Vegas odds they're favored to win the ring next year. That tell's me the west isn't as strong as people make them out to be.

Don't think they can win the title this year without adding someone else (ie: Kevin Love)

He carried an arguably worse Cleveland roster to the finals. On the other hand, Bennett might just be bad at basketball, Irving can't stay healthy and Wiggins is a rookie.

Wiggins for Love solves a lot problems.

Not getting the Bosh deal at all with Miami. At least from the Miami side. Yeah he's the next best agent on the market short of 'Melo. But damn. That's a lot of money for a really long time. Here when there were some rumblings he'd be looking at a 15-16m a year deal if the three amigos stuck around. With that much spent on him they really can't go out and spend big bucks on other marquee players to boost the team.

Miami is going to have a tough run.

To anyone who doesn't understand why LeBron would do such a thing, it really is pretty simple:

1. Wade and Bosh sucking up 30-40 million in cap is not worthwhile to James' chances; they're just not that good anymore.

2. After struggling to win 2 of 4 championships, it isn't looking very good for LeBron to seal his legacy in Miami. If he wants to match MJ's rings, that means another 8 years assuming he keeps up the average...something that doesn't seem too likely given how things have played out in Miami. But bringing just 1 championship to Cleveland would easily be worth 2 or 3 more in Miami.

3. Cleveland's youth might be a detriment in the short term, but in the long term it might pay off. LeBron is still young and healthy enough to carry his team (he could probably carry any team to the playoffs) now, but in the future he's going to need more and more help as he ages. Cleveland is obviously the better pick over Miami in that regard.

If it was me, I would never consider going back to work under Gilbert after that letter out of pride.

what are you talking about, that was a great letter:

wonder how quick it will be before we hear about bosch becoming a rocket lol.

I don't get why anyone thought that would happen after James was confirmed gone (it made sense to think Bosh might leave and chase max contract if James decided to stay, because there was no way Bosh was going to get a max deal with James getting max). After the 3 opted out, Miami had the most cap room of any team by far, if Houston was willing to offer Bosh a max, why wouldn't Miami be willing to do the same, and then why should Bosh pack up and leave?
