Leaving things on?

Is it better to turn on/off speakers before/after every use or to leave it always on?
Is it normal when the optical mouse is on even when the computer shuts down?

I don't think it makes a difference if you leave your speakers on or off. I guess it would save a tiny amount of electricity if you turn it off.
Yes, it's normal for the optical mouse to remain on after the computer shuts down.

I turn off the speakers on mine just so I don't hear the new mail message, etc. when I am sleeping.

I always turn the speakers off since my Logitech's have a bright blue LED that illuminates the whole room at night. 🙂

LOL, my 680's are the same way. It's a damn beacon sitting on my desk...

LOL, yeah you don't realize how damn bright the blue light is until you turn off all the lights.

Thats the nice part about the Z-560's, they only have the blue light around the volume knob, no direct LED outwards. My wifes Z-340's, however, have that annoying power blue LED is does face directly outward and is freaking bright. Thankfully these computers are in our respective home offices so we don't get too much light in the bedroom.

As for turning off the speakers, I do that most of the time when not playing games. The reason is my apartment is VERY quiet due to super insulation and thick windows so ANY noise can be heard, this includes that almost inaudible hiss coming from my speakers. I can eliminate this hiss by using an actual sound card (like my SB live) but I prefer the crispness of the Soundstorm unboard audio, so I live with the very soft hiss.

I say turn them off when you go to sleep. But then leave them on the whole time you're not at work/school so you only turn them on and off once each day.
