My girlfriend is interning at Oxfam France this summer, and I'm going to visit her. Flying from Chicago O'Hare to Heathrow and taking a train down from Heathrow to Paris.

Any suggestions on things to do, things not to do, etc? I'm packing a carry-on and a checked bag - hopefully condensing on the way back so I don't have to wait for baggage when I'm back in the states.

We're going to the Louvre Friday night, because it's free, and Sunday to see Giselle at an opera house, as well as watch the last stage of the Tour de France in Paris. Should be a great time!

Wish me well :D

You'll have a lot of fun. Just spent 2 months in France (with a 4 day trip in London and 6 overall days in Paris) and it was the best time of my life. After the Louvre closes just take a walk around the city... very romantic and very beautiful.

If you plan on going to the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triumph, make sure you go to the Arc first. Thats all the advice I can remember from my trip 7 years ago :(

When you do come back, I think you're forced to listen to this song - right? ;)

(Sorry, was all I could hear when I read the title)
