It's always sad when people leave. I think I speak for everyone here though when I say you, like everyone else who departs, will be missed, but if you should ever choose to come back, you're quite welcome, or even just stop by the forums once in a while :) Good luck with your future endeavours.

So, was he SETI? The one thing I hate about SETI and ECCp is that your point "move" with you when you leave. It seems to me that points earned for a specific team should stay with that team. Isn't that how Dnet works? We lost a lot of points in ECCp through this.
I would like to do SETI when ECCp ends, but it would also be nice to do a project where the points stay with the team.

kmmmatney: Originally, SETI had been planning implementing that, but apparently it would have just been too much work and load on the servers to keep track of all that stuff. I don't think that any DC projects currently have that.

DM,
RC5 & OGR projects do, unless they've made a radical change from when I was running RC5/OGR.

If you have been cracking by yourself and join a team, the completed WUs you've done count towards the team total.

If you have been cracking for a team and leave to join another team, the WUs completed during the team membership stay with the first team and are not carried to the new team.

If you leave the team and crack by yourself, I still think the team gets credit for WUs cracked while a member of the team.

In all cases, all WUs count towards your personal stats.

kmmatney,

I agree and so do a lot of other people but there's not much we can do about it. I'll send an email to someone I know at Seti@Home and explain how I think the non-implementation of this "rule" has really started to affect the morale of a number of SETI TEAMS. As time has gone by, some of the early Seti Searchers have now amassed quite large numbers of Work Units. Probably in the early days (not that long ago) the total WUs per participant were not that big of a deal but now they are, IMHO.

I believe that RC5 and OGR have it right. Like I've discussed before, if each SETI Work Unit had two separate designations, (1) Individual and (2) Team, the accounting should not be that hard. The (1) Individual Total will always stay with you no matter where you roam and the (2) Team Totals will remain with the Teams you were a member at the time you processed them.

It is sad when friends leave but it becomes pretty much a slap in the face even though it is not the intention of those leaving in most cases.

/I now step down from my box. ;)
