I go in, order a tray of wings and drink at the counter.
Pay cashier
Fill up drink at machine myself.
sit at table, wings are brought to me by "waiter"
I refill drink and throw away all my trash myself.

should I leave a tip on the table, or when I pay, or not at all?

None.

Unless they came around and got you refills, checked on your status, etc. Just delivering your basket frmo the ktichen to your table and then disappearing doesn't deserve a tip. Tipping is for people who provide a Service an dprovide it well.

Waiter, Barber, Hooker, etc.

Nope, none. Usually the tables have waitresses that will fill your drinks and such, if you do that, then tip.

They actually recently changed this at the closest BW3. Now you find yourself a table and then they take your order. It kinda sucks because now you have to wait for them to give you your check, then wait for your change/CC slip.

At the one I go to you can do it either way. You could go in and get a table in the bar or something and they have someone come around. Or you can just order it yourself (much faster) and let them bring you the food.

But I haven't been there for quite a long time so it might have changed.

But even if all they do is take the order and bring the food, that still doesn't deserve much of a tip. THey should also be checking in on your, getting you refills for your soda, etc.

At BW3, they get paid $7+ an hour. Because they aren't getting paid server rates of $2 an hour, don't tip unless they have sex with you.

Good to know. That removes the tiny twinge of guilt I felt about not tipping before. :p

Why is it called BW3's? Aren't there only 2 W's?

I've always wondered that myself...

Buffalo Wild Wings and Weck

BW-3 which was originally meant Buffalo, Wild-Wings and Weck. Weck is the bread that their sandwiches are served on.

If you ever get the 50 wing to go bucket it has the history behind the founding of the store including the above information concerning the 3 W's. (or at least the buckets had the info on them when I worked there)

BTW, tips at bW3 are very nice when you leave them, but are not expected (at least that was the attitude of most that worked there with me).

Left a fat $30 tip on a $170 bill at BW3 last night...we always have a cute waitress (didn't even know you could pay at the counter...thought that was for takeout only???)
