Learning Spanish on a Computer - Well, more like a refresher

Its been a long time since my 3 years of Spanish in high school.. Now that we've been down to Costa Rica a few times to visit family, its high time i get back into the swing of spanish...

Any recommended Spanish programs?

How devoted are you to relearning spanish? How much money are you looking to spend? The last time I came across a similar thread Rosetta Stone and Pimsleur were mentioned, Pimsleur won hands down in shear recommendations, however costs a lot of money, and isn't an actual software (as far as I can remember, atleast, it is audio tapes).

well, as much as i would love rosetta, i can't afford it... just looking for something simple, and preferably less than $50

Check your local libraries and see if they have pimsleur tapes or cd's (mine does).

And I haven't tried the spanish version, but I really like the style of "Instant Immersion" cd-roms. And they are really cheap- best buy has em for $10 per 2-cd set.

and here's a cheap bilingual book that i think is really good and alot more fun than a textbook:

And there are many books in this "side by side" series, so if you like that one, there's plenty more. They might have some in your library. You might as well check out the other stuff at the local library and see if anything appeals to you (that's how i found both pimsleur and the side by side books)

Spanish language forums on the internet? Obviously not too good for the oral and aural but would be good for the slang

There are such forums. For the aural experience, just tuine your car radio to a Spanish language station (here in Arizona that is easy!) And the Univision channel on cable TV helps as well.

Several years ago, I was declared persona non grata on a Prodigy forum because I posted notes in Spanish to some pals in South America - the Mods couldn't handle it.
