Hi guys. I am currently in my senior year at DePaul University's College of Computing and Digital Media in Information Assurance and Security Engineering.

I am looking for information regarding Windows Server. I have installed and, somewhat, configured active directory on a very small, just for practice, at home network. I have installed AD using dcpromo and started setting up roles and permissions.

I am looking for some information to start really learning the meat and potatoes of Server. Where should I begin? What aspects of it should I look at? Any websites that offer good information on the subject? What information on Server is essential to know for network/sys admins?

Thanks guys, I appreciate any help and information.

YouTube can have some good stuff available. I know there have been some books published as well but the titles escape me. There are also a number of good articles online if you have something specific in mind you want to look up. Good luck. The best teacher is experience and practice.

Rasczak is right. Personally, AD always seems more organizational to me and was therefore much easier to learn. However Group Policy is where the real power of Server comes in, and if you are not careful with how you setup the policies things can get very, very messy.
