I'd absolutely agree with this. I'm half way through my 2nd year in CS.

Agreed (aside from university core classes for all majors). Graduated this may with a BS, starting MS in the Fall.

Theoretical CS classes (data structures, algorithms, compilers, etc.), a crap load of mathematics (calculus series, relational algebra and most importantly linear algebra and discrete) with a slice of hardware (NOT A+ hardware classes, think building processors with gates) will give you a good tour of CS, a large field. I highly suggest you attend a university.

It's really hard for most people. Except for 90% of the people on this forum, for whom it is pretty easy. YMMV.

I guess that I always thought that if you were meant to be a coder, that you would automatically just take to it like a duck to water. I may just take a class and see how I go.

When you say easy, what exactly do you mean? How quickly you learnt it, or how easy it is to break problems down logically etc?

Taught my self everything from books (programming C++, Java, etc) then got a real job and got my degree in 2 1/2 years going at night all year round. There's some things you can't really teach yourself. I suggest classes for algorithms, etc as well as soft skills (writing, English) and Math.
