You know those fvckers who leave like a 10 foot gap between them and the car in front of them? I always seem to end up behind these fvckers. And the worst part is its in BUMPER to BUMPER traffic! They make abrupt stops as if coming closer then 6 feet to the car in front of them will cause damage to thier car! This morning some fvcker in front of me was doing this, he would do the whole stop early sh!t, and then after he stops he would inch forward into a normal position. He stops fvcking twice when he only needs to stop once! Then we merge onto an onramp and I'm like "Yes! I don't have to drive behind this fvcker anymore!" NOPE, no luck. I merge in behind some lady who apparently thinks the speed limit is 5 miles per hour. Also she leaves like a 15 foot gap between her and the car in front of her. And this is morning/rush hour traffic on freeway/highway.

edit: I am not tailgating, or accelerating hard during traffic, its a matter of the guy in front of me braking unnecessarily and abruptly because they want to keep a "safe" 6-10 feet of space in front of them even though this is 0-5mph bumper to bumper traffic.

I used to hate this.

Then I realized my mom does this, age 70

Then I realized why she does this.

Now I assume most people that do this don't have the best vision in the world.

And I realize that when I'm old, I'll probably do the same thing!

To conitue, I used to drive at night like it was no big deal when I was 20. my mom always used to say how she hates it because it's hard to see. I couldn't undertand this. Now that I'm 30, I don't particularly care for driving at night either. By night, I'm referring to those pitch black dark nights.

What's the rush? You're in bumper to bumper traffic. Even if they weren't there, you'd still be in the same traffic.

Guess you don't believe in leaving yourself a gap, or some safety space, incase you have to stop fast, because the car in front of you nails the brakes?
OP, let me ask you this; Do you remember how many car lengths of space you should allow, for each 10MPH in speed?

Were you complaining about the space, the size of the space, or the lack of the space?

I'm hearing something along the lines of "Learn to tailgate the people in front you so that you have zero space to react if the car comes to a sudden stop. Oh, and also remove safety space in case you get rear ended so that you end up hitting the person in front of you as well"

They stop abruptly, because they have that imaginary space in front of them, they brake exponentially harder then the car in front of them because they do not allow for space to break in since it is bumper to bumper traffic and they would just be letting people cut in front of them if they did. which causes me to have to stop abruptly, and unnecessarily.

No I am not talking about tailgating, I am talking about when the car in front comes to a stop and you slowly come to a stop behind them from a reasonable distance away.

Look about like the driving in Ca. Take a chill pill. In that kind of traffic, you have to accept that you are not going to get there any faster, no matter what the driver in front of you is doing, unless they, say slow down to 20mph, when everyone else is going 40.

I realise that I wont get anywhere any faster, but it irritates the hell out of me because they are breaking twice as much as they should, and that forces me to also do it or to give them a rediculous amount of space so that I can just roll along while they are doing all thier extra stop/go-ing.

I hate those people too. It's dangerous too because they are totally random and unpredictable. Who knows at what point they will decide to slam on the brakes. It changes all the time with them.

It's ok to be bothered by it because most people dont drive like that. Its the select few that are clueless and it throws all the rest of the traffic off and is dangerous.

yes you are. when you don't leave space between you and the car in front of you what else can you call it? sounds like somebody needs to re-take their driving exam.

AmigaMan is right. You are supposed to leave a gap. You need to chill and read a driving manual.

I am leaving space. If you cannot understand what is going on then you are probably one of them. Those who, when coming to a complete stop, leave a 6-10 foot space in between thier car and the next. I am not tailgating anyone, I am not following them closely. This is in traffic jam, bumper to bumper, gridlocked traffic. You understand? Do I have to take a freakin picture for you to get this? wtf.

I can see how that'd be annoying; I find it irritating when people leave huge gaps between themselves and the car in front of them at stoplights, especially when said gap ends up resulting in me missing the light.

However, there are definitely things people do while driving that piss me off quite a bit more...tap dancing on the brake pedal at any point being one of them.

A 6-10ft space in front of their car is hardly excessive and, to make a bit of a stretch, provides MUCH easier access should emergency vehicles need to get through. (I said it was a stretch)

Oh yeah, don't get me started, I could probably make a rant thread every week. People in Hawaii really do not know how to drive. :(

hehe that must be me you're describing. I have a bad habit of tapping my brakes to the beat of the song I'm currently listening to.
