Our dishwasher (Siemens 48db) started leaking out of the entire seal around the door it seems. I cannot seem to figure out what is wrong. It's only 1 year old and worked last week. The dishwasher seems to be draining just fine, because when i do a manual drain it does so with no complaints (it has a pump to drain).

Any ideas before I call Siemens in the morning?

Does it drain into your disposal? We had a similar problem a couple of weeks ago when I noticed water below the washer on the ground. Turns out the drain line to the disposal was blocked. The line wasn't blocked enough for it to overflow when I poured water down it but was blocked enough when the washer started its drain cycle.

Yep, looks good, supple and nothing stuck in it.

Yes it does, but it seems to start leaking shortly after filling up. There is a huge filter on the thing and I cannot imagine anything getting by it.

Nothing got by ours either. The blockage was actually from the disposal end. My wife had been slicing lemons and putting the rinds in the disposal. Apparently a couple of them shot into the drain tube. If you can actually see the leaks coming out of the door during fill up then we have different problems. Does it leak from just one side?

I had a leaky dishwasher (leaked around the door) and never could figure out a way to fix it economically. I ended up replacing it.

Double check and make sure it's not the supply line. I had a heck of a time getting mine to seal up.

Something happen to the latching mechanism such that it's not pulling the door shut as tightly?

Lola use the open dishwasher door as a step stool, bending the hinges at the bottom slightly which would keep it from sealing well at the bottom?

Those are reaches... I've only once run into a problem with a leaking dishwasher. The problem was obvious (seal came loose and wasn't attached properly) and fixed in about 30 seconds.

It's so new that it's still under warranty so I am not too concerned.

It actually leaks above it. I can see the water coming down.

I considered this, but I see no way to adjust the door. The mounts are completely hidden in the tub and in the door. Lots of torx screws involved to get the door apart.

Our dishwasher hasn't been draining, so I may have to go buy one of these dishwashers. I'm not sure what's wrong with it, and I don't want to replace it, but a service call is gonna end up costing a bit of money, plus parts, so I may have to look into this.

(Unless someone has an idea on how to fix my existing dishwasher. It does everything except drain the water and apparently has a water level sensor so new water does not get added)

altonb1, we had one that stopped doing a good job washing. The problem was that over the course of 12 years, enough little pieces of plastic had gotten through the main filter, but there was a second filter below that which had become clogged. Water simply couldn't get through it fast enough. When I found that, it was a great moment - meant the repair took me a total of 5 minutes and the dishwasher ran like brand new after that.

Other problems would really depend on how handy you are though. There's not really a lot to them, and I don't have a clue how much replacement parts are. Last year, we purchased a stainless steel (inside and out) dishwasher for our kitchen. Because the cabinet is so expensive for that one, replacing any parts on it would probably be much more economical.

I think I may have stumbled on my issue, from a Bosch Dishwasher forum (Siemens rebadges Bosch):

Inside your dishwasher, there is a round hole with a grate on it - mid-way up the right-hand side inside the dishwasher. It is very important not to put anything tall that blocks or impedes this hole. I still don't have the full explanation what that hole does, just that it can't be blocked. What we were doing is putting a cutting board (relatively large floppy plastic one from IKEA) on the right-hand side of the lower dish rack, and it impeded this hole. Now it sounds strange, and I wouldn't have believed this if it had not come from Bosch directly, but putting tall items (cookie sheet, cutting board, etc) on the LEFT side where it doesn't impede that hole has resulted in no more leaks. The leaks were coming from the front of the door.

Guess where I put my cutting board (Ikea, no less)? On the right side.

I know when I was shopping for dishwashers about 4 years ago I was dissuaded from buying Bosch because the salesman said that the Bosch had a strainer basket that caught the bits of food and you had to empty it manually. This "hole might be a secondary strainer or maybe just the remnants of the old way of manufacturing the tub.

I think it's actually the water sensor. I bet it is overfilling the tub because it cannot detect the waterbing sprayed, so it just keeps pumping it in there.

The Bosch does have a manual strainer, but it pops out and you dump it. We've actually only done that once though, last night when I was troubleshooting .
