Leaking Band Clamp

BW86

Lifer
So I've been wrestling with this band clamp for the past couple of days and I can't for the life of me get this thing to not leak. Any tricks you guys know about? I'm thinking about using a pipe expander and expanding the pipe just enough where the clamp barely fits on the pipes then tightening it down. I've taken it off and readjusted it 3 times now and I can't get it right.

Looks just like this clamp.

One time....at band clamp.

Assuming we're talking exhaust here. Unless the pipe has been crushed a bit, it should work. A 2 1/2" clamp should work on 2 1/2 inch pipe, for example. Sure you have the right size? (Assuming you do, but have to ask).
Are the two pipes still good and round?
After that I'd probably try some exhaust sealer in the joint and then clamp it.
