Although I don't like the Galaxy S III in general, the one thing I do like about it is that it has a physical home button.

lol I'm the exact opposite. While I do like the S3 in general, the one I do not like is the physical home button. 🙂

That's a sleek looking phone, more like the Nexus line (minus the branding).
 
While I also find those on-screen buttons irritating, I think they would be less irritating if:

1) The placement was configurable.
2) Full screen options for apps were more common and well implemented. As it stands now even Google apps like Chrome don't make use of the full screen size, because of those soft buttons (and because in Chrome the address bar is always visible).
 
My phone has somewhat angular edges. 🙂

BTW, the phone looks a lot like the Blackberry 10 phone, and something else I can't quite put my finger on... 😉

I thought they were stupid too at first, but then I put paranoid ROM on my S3.

On screen buttons are far far superior to physical buttons imo. Love that they rotate, and almost disappear in full screen apps. Will be great to have phone built for it, with more screen space and same size.

Have never liked the S3 home button though, takes way too much pressure to register. I only use it as a long press shortcut to turn on flashlight.

I hate them on my tablet.
 
A physical button was like THE thing I missed from my iPhone. I hated the placement of power button on the GNex and really missed being able to press the button to turn the device on as opposed to having to press the actual power button.
 
Not sure why everybody is jumping to the conclusion of on-screen buttons just because the home button isn't a physical button anymore. It may just be part of the "hidden" buttons on the bottom, like the back and menu buttons are now on the GS3. Now the Home button would be in the same place but not physical.

I'm for this, or at the very least the home button on the GS3 needs to be moved up a tad. With a case the home button is actually hard to hit and I have to angle my thumb properly to get past the case rubber to hit the button. If it was a little higher I wouldn't have this problem, but as it stands now it wasn't designed well for case users.

Well, in many ways that's basically the same as the stock Android buttons, with the important point being no-physical-home-button.

Usually launches in May for Europe, etc.
USA probably September release.

They might announce it at Mobile World Congress at the end of February, or hold a separate event to announce it a while later.

The GS4 leak looks good minus the home button. Why get rid of it if there's still going to be bottom bezel?

That spec leak wasn't terribly off. The only major thing it missed on was the 1080p screen. Rest of the specs are right, except I don't know what the case is made it out of, but I don't consider that a real spec.

The only other iffy thing there is that you can have the quad 1.4ghz Exynos or LTE, but not both.

Then put the button back. I'd rather use the space for a physical button than take up screen real estate.

Made of plastic, not ceramic.

Quad and LTE was right, just not together.

It's fairly obvious why the home button is absent on the S4. Android now uses all soft keys on the screen.

When the S3 was in development the soft keys were not the standard. This is the real deal, and not some fake.
