You own nVIDIA cards. Do your own comparison shots if the word of the community isn't good enough for you.

No I dont own any NV cards in this box.

You claimed big IQ increases, I just want to see some examples. There are always people claiming IQ increases with every new driver. What exactly does it increase? And no, you word isnt good enough, sorry. Im sure if your claims are true, about a huge IQ increase, we'll see reviewers mention it.

I would be very interested in seeing this.
Good to hear.

I've written the first draft of the article and I'm just finishing up the last of the X800XL benchmarks. It should be up in the next day or so. :)

So you lied about owning 7800GT SLI then?

Find one single post where I said I had a 7800GT SLI setup. I never even had a single 7800GT card.

Why cant you explain where the huge IQ increase is? Give us some details, and some pics for proof. I simply dont believe it. Ive heard that line far too many times, for both ATi and NV users. When new drivers come out, there is always at least someone claiming IQ and performance increases. Sometimes people see what they want to see.

Well then, you can test the 87.08's for yourself and report back to us on IQ if you so desire. You certainly don't need me to do it for you.

I don't really care about these new drivers. I only ues the nvidia cards for 2d and the fx5200 for a bit of CS:Source on my crap comp. Not like I'm going to notice anything at 1 fps... The Geforce 2MX performs about as well as the fx5200 it's probably my cpu holding me back anyhow. So no I'm not wasting my time to test the 87.08's out. BTW the cat 6.5's have very nice IQ but of course I don't need to prove this to anyone I'll just say it and of course people should take my word... links to other people saying a huge iq increase would be nice.

Last time I checked IQ wasn't dependent on frame rate. 87.08 works just fine on my old 5900XT also. If you want other people''s opinions, I'd suggest reading more forums - you can't rely on just one forum for all your knowledge on a particular situation.

I'm running the ForceWareUltra-x32-84_43-BETA and it's fine. The burden of proof lies upon the claimer not on the skeptic.

Well then, miss out on the benefits of 87.08 for all I care. No skin off my nose. Don't say no-one ever told you about it.

As probably one of the very few, if not the only person around here to have used both the A8N32-SLI and the A8R32-MVP, let me say that they are both great boards. I prefer the A8R32-MVP for a few reasons. First, I can keep it at 5xHT when going over 250FSB, where as on my A8N32 I had to lower it to 3x. I can also keep my ram on 1T on the A8R32, the A8N32 was not stable barely above stock speeds with 1T. Thirdly, the A8R32 runs cooler on the chipset, by about 4-5c for me. There is evidence of this, because there is no heatpipe with the A8R32, just with the A8N32. Another reason is the placement of the CMOS reset jumper. On the A8N32, you had to remove the second card in SLI (not a problem for you if you dont go multi-GPU) to reset the CMOS, very annoying. This problem is fixed with a better placement of the jumper on the A8R32 Also, one of the SATA plugs is blocked by the second card on the A8N32, and another parially blocked with 7900GTX's.

Now, these all may not matter to you. There is very little realworld difference in 1T and 2T, and 5x compared to 3x. The difference in temps is not that large, and its doubtful it impacts case temperature much, if at all. And if you dont use 4 SATA drives, that wont matter either. Its just what I have noticed between the two. The CMOS reset jump is a real problem with the A8N32, but that too may not matter if you do not go SLI.

Personally, I would get the A8R32-MVP. Last time I checked, it was cheaper. I would still get the X1900XT over the 7900GTX. Mainly because just like the motherboard, its cheaper. And I believe its the better card, not just because they both trade benchmarks, but because of its features and IQ. You will not always be at 1280x1024, and if you get a budget card now, it will struggle more when you get a larger screen. Also, at 1280x1024 with a X1900XT you will likely be able to run at 6xAA and 16x HQAF and still get good frames. With a X1800XT that would be less likely to happen.

There are even better posts of yours on the forum, but this one will do.

here is a link that contains a beta version of XG's v2 (modded) .inf file for these drivers.

Of course if people actually bothered to read other forums (and follow the links provided in the first post), they wouldn't need me to point this ou (and they would find others corroborating my IQ claims)...

There are waay to many beta nvidia drivers for me to try out. ATI is simple. Year.month. That is so hard? And as you stated earlier nvidia doesn't even go by number but by the date. ugh

He said he had used both boards. Nowhere did he say he owned a 7800gt. He said that SLI would block the CMOS jumper. That's it. That does not imply that he used it. HE was simply pointing it out.

BTW you still haven't made good on any of your claims. Your word and everyone else's is useless. IQ is pretty much subjective. If I like how something is rendered you might hate it. Therefore better IQ is by itself a pretty useless statement unless you have some actual Screenshots where I can see which one I like more.

If i leave my computer to turn the monitors off (powersave after 10mins) then i can't get any display output again, no matter what i do :( Rig is still purring away quite happily under the desk, and i've noticed no other problems, this just started after i got the new driver...

What driver version? I've never had this trouble, and my monitor is set to switch off after 15 minutes.

i'd tell you, but comp is unplugged & waiting for my SLK 800 to get here :)

I'll just wait until the next whql ones i think, they must be out soon?

He has owned GF7 class boards in SLI configuaration. Recently he stated he was still biased toward ATi even though he was using nVIDIA. There are plenty of posts by him in the forum showing he owned NVDIA cards, I'm just too lazy to dig them up.

Possibly. All the fanATIcs just merge together to me, like a flock of sheep bleating their ATi PR and nVIDIA hatred.

AFAIK he has owned SLI 7800GTX in the past but now he has an X1900XT crossfire system.

When the village idiot starts putting on a show the public generally take notice if for no other reason than to laugh.

Tell me, did you by chance see the Leaked Cat 6.5 Beta Drivers thread?

Care to comment on this post in it?

How about some speculation about how a theoretical quad crossfire rig might run? Perhaps throw some SMP threading into the mix for good measure?

Yes, you probably attracted more people to the thread than might otherwise have looked...
