Leafs should have tried harder on blake, but either way they got scoring. A pretty good deal for a possible 50 goals guy

Hey! I take offense at that! The worse team is my Blackhawks!!!

They traded away Hasek, Belfour, Roenick, Keith CArney, Steve Larmer, Chris Chelios, and Doug Gilmour, many in their prime, and got NOTHING back. And Billy Wirtz is still in town! Selfish bastard...

This whole free agency thing pisses me off. Its difficult to be a
fan of any team when all the top players play musical teams year in
and year out and no lineup remains the same. The strong teams get
stronger and the poor teams get poorer.

Edmonton without Doug Weight? :disgust:
The battle for Alberta may very soon be the battle for the 1st
overall draft pick.

Every canadian team, EXCEPT for the leafs, are gonna suck this year...Edmonton is gonna really suck, so is Calgary....and then there's Montreal....I hate this...

But what I am really gonna like are the Leafs....imagine a line with Sundin, Mogilny, and Renberg (or Roberts).....with Joseph backing them up, we are gonna rock!!!

The only thing we need are a few good defensemen....trading away Markov was kinda dumb...

I agree Soulflare. Professional sports in general are going into the dumper. I think both the owners and players are in for a dose of reality in a few years.

Relf: Yup, I suspect that the Leafs are going to get some needed firepower from Mogilny. However, as a Canuck fan, I should warn you that Mogilny can get rather under productive at times. If the Leafs play the same as late last season, they'll struggle as much with Mogilny as they did last year without him.

Of the Canadian teams, I agree that Toronto should be a contender(though who knows)this season. The team with the best potential though are the Canucks in my completely biased opinion. :)

busmaster - unfortunately thats just whats happening to all the teams. So many good teams ten (to fifteen) years ago simply aren't contenders thank to the big money. Chicago, Calgary had won a cup, Montreal, Bruins and Vancouver made it to the finals... now these teams can't make the playoffs!

I am very disappointed about the Leafs picks. They went from pure heart to all this fancy European stuff. Sure they'll end up farther ahead in regular season but they won't have a chance come playoffs. Mogilny also pretty much rules out the chance of getting Lindros or Jagr, both top 5 current players in most books (top 3 in mine along with Mario, assuming Lindros' health), and their only true chance to get anywhere near the Cup. And they better do it soon, while Joseph is still their goalie, its not often you have a top 5 (IMHO) goalie on your team.

We had a slim chance of getting Lindros. Plus it'd be useless if he get injured again in the playoffs or the regular season. You gotta admit... there is a pretty good chance of him getting injured again.

Buffalo is getting Jagr....thats why they cleared up soo much salary space...

Lindros is a liability.....BUT, if the leafs can get him for next to nothing, and since he wants to play for the leafs (a BIG plus), it would be nice to see him in the blue & white...

Now all we need is Jason York, or someone like him!

I'm just happy the Stars picked up Audette and Turgeon! DiMaio is another good addition. :D :D :D

Now, hopefully they'll resign Mike Keane for a little less cash than he's demanding and let Brett Hull go elsewhere. Hull is a god of the wheelhouse, but at 37 he's just too expensive.
