leaf blowers

I have a Toro leaf blower from like 1995 and the blower part works fine but the vac/shred part sucks. Its kinda heavy and unwieldey also.

Was looking at a newer Toro model on Amazon for $65. It looks better ergonomically, but would this be any better for vac/shred than what I have now? I also have a $20 amazon gift card so I could bring that down to $45.

I probably have the same model. Magnolia leaves won't go through the shredder.

I'd imagine the new one would suck too unless it's a metal shredder.

I leave the leaves where they fall. It's free, and they go away by themselves.

i've never used a shredder on one before because the one i tried was way too slow at chopping to be practical. been over a decade since i've used the shredder on one though.

i got this hitachi one after reading great reviews about it on amazon and homedepot.

it's a beast and i use it for a ton of stuff other than leaf blowing - cleaning off the patio, driveway, and cleaning out my gutters.

I leave the leaves where they fall. It's free, and they go away by themselves.

Mine does too. Between mowing, and them blowing away, they get taken care of.

Two other options you might want to consider.

1. Trimmer attachment, if your trimmer is powerful enough, its pretty easy and cheap
2. If you want electric, might want to look at the battery one, Amazon has black and decker for about $70

the problem i see with most battery powered tools like this is very short run time and not as powerful as electric or gas. whats the battery life on it?

not sure which one exactly you are talking about but the only cordless B&D blower/vac is $150.

I've got a BD trimmer/blower kit, comes with 2 20V lithium power packs, after about 6-7 uses they hold a decent charge, not powerful enough for any kind of attachment though, but I'm still on my original spool of line and it's going on 2 years. The blower is fine for driveway uses but lacks the power to push much leaves around.

Make sure to get one that has a metal impeller.
