It's a homelite I believe, 2 cycle motor, about 8 years old. It starts pretty well and then runs well for about a minute or two, I assume it's getting to full operating temp by then. The symptoms are a surging motor noise with little power and then it will die and be almost impossible to start unless I wait a minute or two. If I choke it, it likely fires and starts but then dies even if I immediately take off the choke.
I can't tell if it is starved for fuel or too rich from the sound, if you made me pick I'd say sounds lean, but the waiting a few minutes and it starts makes me thing flooded/buildup of fuel. The surging and start while warm with choke makes me think too lean. Any pointers? Could it have anything to do with oil/gas mixture ratio?
