Howdy,
Over on SharkyExtreme they have a review of the LeadTek GeoForce3 and say it can output at 1024X768 via S-video to a TV.

Anyone actually tried doing this, using a TV as a monitor, and if so, what brand of TVs can actually handle 1024x768? Would love to know, as I'm in the market for a new TV.

Thanks.

Some random notes...

Just about any $3500 or more HDTV can do it.

Actually, that card outputs standard NTSC video, not digital. So having a TV that can display 1024x768 is not going to make a difference. Having a TV with an S-video interface is what you need - max resolution there is approx. 540 horizontal lines (analog equivalent of just slightly better than standard 640x480 VGA). Being able to output 1024x768 just means that you will be less likely to have to switch your desktop resoulution every time you use the TV out.

Any text smaller than 18 point at 800x600 (24 point at 1024x768) resoultion will be illegible on TV. DVD native resolution is 720x540, so showing it at higher (or lower)resolution only introduces scaling artifacts.

Darn double post....

Oh yeah, and GeForce TV-out is generally pretty skanky compared to ATI or Matrox.
