I wasnt going to post this since people are so uppity about posting newegg refurb deals, but its been there all day without going out of stock, so have at it.

Here

Their new retail price for it is $215, so this is a pretty good deal.

Pricewatch shows a 5600 ultra for $123.00
link

Cheapest with VIVO however, is ironically from newegg itself - $185.99
link

Aren't these about on par with a ti4200 performance-wise?

The cards in those links are actaully 5600 NON-ultras - read the specs. Also, beware of the Gainward cards on pricewatch, as they (very misleadingly) use the word ultra in the card's name, but it is definitely NOT based on the ultra spec. It had me fooled at first too (and evidently pricewatch as well). The cheapest 5600ultra w/ VIVO on pricewatch that I could find is $195. Performance wise this card is generally slightly faster than a stock radeon 9600 pro (see the review link).

newegg says it has vivo but in the pictures the only cable looks to be a plain old s-video cable. VIVO cards have a cable with 1 plug on one end (to the port on the card) and splits to two or more ports on the other end (composite or svideo in and also out.)

I'd be wary but MWAVE does claim it has video in capabilities... MWAVE specs

Edit I think I have this figured out, package contents, note the blue cable/box which you probably won't get since it's a refurb. This cable isn't shown in newegg's images. Might be worth a try.

The Specs say its ramdac clock is 350mhz and according to the leadtek site all the FX 5600 chipset cards they have, ultra or not, have 400mhz clock.

Smells like an OEM card or a FX 5200/FX 5200 ultra

No, these are probably retail cards before they switched to the flip chip packaging. These are noticably slower than flip chip 5600 Ultra and hotter too.

Supposedly these can overclock to the flipchip levels or higher. Again, see the review in the original post.

If you can overclock this it would be worth it. I just looked at Anandtech's recent review of the fx 5900 ultra. The benchmarks show that the FX5600 Ultra (new) beats the 9600 pro in most tests. The 9600 retails for about 170 on newegg.

Does a 256MB 5600 have any advantage over a 5600 Ultra? (Which I can find with only 128MB's...) And vice versa?

Nope - the 5600 is substantially slower than the 5600ultra, even the 256mb version. Im not sure a 256mb version of the 5600ultra exists, but if it does I would imagine it would be A) very expensive and B) only marginally faster than the 128mb version.

Edit: ooooooo 300th post!

Thanks! I did some reading and found the 256MB versions were sorta homemade...test's show no improvement over any of the 128MB ones. Anyone seen a MSI 5600 Ultra? The reviews I've read show this leadtech as being pretty loud......

The good news: I got my card today and it appears to have everything that should be in the retail box (software, cables, games) and everything looked to be brand new.

The expected news: As was pointed out above, this is NOT the flipchip model, so default clock speeds are 351/702.

The bad news: I get severe artifacts and tearing in any 3d application :| ............ I think ill try to get an RMA from Leadtek before I send it to Newegg, maybe they will send me the newer version.

I go away for the weekend and now the card works........ Strange. Anyway newegg is now OSS on the refurbished version of this card, but the retail version had its priced lowered to $193
