Leadtek A400 6800 GT 256 mb $309 New EGG

Holy cow, that's a whopping heatsink/fan! Would it fit in the computer I want to build? Would the heatsink end up facing down into (empty) PCI slots, or would it face up and smack into my processor, I wonder?

Damn, now if we could just get a no rebate-BS deal like this for a 6600 GT...say $140.. Not sure I can bring myself to spend $310 for a gaming card, but hot damn, it looks like a good deal.

Ive only had bad times w/ Leadtek. Ive had a card die after 1 month, and the RMA come damaged in the box w/ piss poor packaging. Also, their warranty doesnt allow for advanced RMA, if your card breaks they send it to taiwan for 8weeks to fix it and dont give you a replacement, IE your computer is out of commission for 2 months.

DONT DO IT

Leadtek is awesome. I think you had an isolated bad experience. I've never had a bad Leadtek card out of many.

That heatsink unit will be facing down into the PCI slots. (Or up into the PCI slots if you have a BTX case).

Great deal OP. I have found Leadtek to be as good/reliable as any other manufacturer in my time. That said, I have never had to RMA anything from them. But then again, I have never had to RMA anything from them. 😉 😛

That heatsink unit looks good for cooling, but bad for space and weight though.

I had to RMA my leadtek, but I did it to newegg. I installed an aftermarket cooler, so this might have had something to do with it, but it worked for a while after this. The cooler faces away from the processor, and just takes up an extra slot.
Awesome deal nonetheless

The deal is back; 1 Day Sale @ $299 for this card w/ free FedEx shipping. I had been looking at this card for the past week or so, and it's been ~$340 everywhere, including NewEgg, so I jumped on this deal and ordered it about 15 mins ago.

i really have to wonder why someone would design a two slot graphics card and NOT exhaust the air

I know, I totally agree. It seemed like nvidia got skidish about it after the fx5800 ultra fiasco. Anyways, this looks like a great deal.

I know literally zip about high end cards, however, I was crusing pricegrabber and ran across this - I have no idea if it's any good or not but the price is similar so I thought I'd pass this on (you need not rip me a new bunghole, I profess my ignorance up front):
