Warning to all:

I recently purchased one of the Leadtek GeForce 6800 GT cards from Newegg. $299. Awesome deal right?

It worked fine for 24 hours, then fritzed on me. I RMA'd the card and very quickly recieved a replacement card that was shipped from a location other than where I sent my card in ( so I know the replacement was not the same card I sent in). The second card did not work either. Lot's of 'snow' even at the most basic VGA level, like when viewing bios, etc.

I detailed my work on that and a description of the problem HERE.

On Saturday I went to Best Buy and picked up a BFG GeForce 6800 GT OC and it works fine. Happy gaming all weekend (although I'm going to underclock it back to stock to help prevent heating issues).

You know how it is, if you have a bad experience with, say a Ford car then you never want a Ford car again. I am never purchasing a Leadtek product again.

Luck all,

Joker

Oh NO!
I just ordered one from newegg:Q🙁

My post that you queried was a response to Buck_Naked's question about 2D performance. Not sure if that was interpreted correctly.

I am now successfully running a BFG GeForce 6800 GT OC with no problem at all so I'm not concerned about system specs as a reason for it having failed. You can see more on that in my post on the subject that I linked to in an earlier posting in this thread. However, here are my system specs:
AMD 64 3200+
ASUS K8VSE Deluxe, Socket 754
2x512MB DDR3200 System Memory
HP DVD Combo drive
200 GB WD SATA HD
BFG GeForce 6800 GT OC
Viewsonic Af91+ 19" CRT

So, when I said I didn't see a difference I was referring to 2D performance. 🙂

Good luck man. Like I've said earlier it was great for the 24 hours that it ran. Reading through this post I'd estimate that 1 in 3 people who took a bite on this deal have had to RMA it at least once. As long as you get a card that works it is a great card at a great price. Here's to hoping.

Best of all (for me) by finally getting a working higher end card I've freed up my older Radeon 9800 Pro to use as the last piece for my HTPC!!! Loving it. I'm going to finish setting that up tonight after work.

1 in 3 people?:Q
That's very high......:frown:

Quick report:

Just got my A400 GT this morning and running over 1 hour.
Seems no problem.
No aftifacts no garbage screens.

Got 9989 on 3DMark03 and 4840 on 3DMark05.
That's with 6800GT stock speed and a 1.8GHz AMD Athlon XP.

Will continue to test tonight.

I got the Leadtek card and also bought the NV5 Rev.2 at the same time. I have not installed it yet. Just want to test the OEM heatsink. So far from the temps, I don't see a reason to even install the NV5 Rev.2. The only reason I could see is to blow hot air out of the case while playing games. The temps are pretty good even when running games. I bought the card used from the forums. I am more worry about the fan dying than the size of the heatsink.
