i have been looking all over the net and i am having trouble finding answers...

i just built the computer, put on sp2, got all updates done. chipset drivers, everything...put the card in and tried to start gaming. very shortly into playing just about any game it crashes out to desktop on me. the reports the games put out are inconclusive. i gave the card its own dedicated connector from the power supply, there is literally nothing else on it. i have read about power issues, but i think it is BS. there have been so many people to go out and buy new power supplys for this card and they still have issues, so i am going to just pass that up.

does anyone out there have any ideas? suggestions? please help, i am extremely frustrated. i leave for germany soon and i would like to get this working so i can enjoy a little gaming before i leave...

thanks

I had problems with my 6800 Ultra with anomolies and game crashes. I serached and did everything I found in regards, nothing cleared up the problems. The whole time I was looking into other issues, knowing it may be my PSU. My PSU is only 2 months old and I spent more to get a better more powerfull one, for when I could afford a new video card. So the whole time I didn't want to think it was my PSU, but had nowhere else to turn.
So I tested a another PSU out of my sons computer and noticed the +3.3 voltage jumped from (Old PSU)3.024 to (New PSU)3.3.86, then tried a game and BINGO, worked perfectly. So I bought a new PSU popped it in and running stable ever since. I have a Asus K8V Deluxe, which came with a program to monitor the voltage, heat, fan speed, etc of my system. This was how I found my old PSU was not putting out the voltage required. I can't garrentee this might be the problems you are expirenceing, but it worked for me. GOOG LUCK!

i love you and hate you at the same time lol...

i do not want to go out and buy a PS just to play games with this card...it isnt the pope or anything, i refuse to give in, right now atleast...

Hey giraff3,

Why not put MBM5 on there and monitor your voltage rails. Select the "sys log" feature, select to have the log written to a text.doc. Select a recording every second.

When you experience a prob, go into the text.doc and see what your voltage rails looked like when the failure happened.

also, just from surfing from a while, it restarts...i think i might have a heating problem with cpu, going to get a new heatsink/fan asap

where do i get that program from?

HERE is the site for free download.

The "sys log" feature is on the main screen/window of MBM5 and about half way down on the left side.

Lemme know if you need help setting it up.

BTW: This feature will also give you a running record/log of CPU & system temps (you'll be able to quickly see if you a better HS+F), as well info on the voltage rails. You can see if they are dipping etc.

You can also elect to have your CPU and sys temps reported in "real time" in your system tray

i cant find my mb on the list it has...hmmm

only has ga-7n400 not the 7n400s-L like i have

hmmm

hit me up on aim: giraff300

Try it and see. Can't hurt anything.

You can check if it's reading temps properely by comparing to temps in BIOS (PC Health or whatever section they call it on your mobo). Should be a little bit diff, but if you get readings for CPU & sys, and they are not reversed, you're good to go.

Shouldn't be difficult to determine if the rails are reading correctly. 3.3 v rail should read close to that and so on.

i tried it out, messed with the settings with what i thought made sense, and i have no idea what all of it meant...whatever it was, it looked consistant...

can u hit me up on aim? giraff300

thanks fern
