Not sure what radio problem you're talking about but mine works fine. Newest drivers and everything.

Thanks again!
This is the first that I've heard of an issue with the radio shutting down. My FM tuner stays up until I shut it down. Actually, you might have a driver contention causing the problem. This could get a little ugly in trying to resolve. Do you have access to a 2nd computer where you could install the card just to be sure it isn't a hardware issue with your card? If the radio stayed on in the 2nd computer, then it would appear as if there was a software issue with your PC.

same here... the program creates an error report and crashes everytime...it happens almost always when I close the program or switch between FM and TV functions. I have XP home if that helps???

I can't even open the program. It seems that some people don't have this problem and some do...

i've had no problems running it on my girls system, its a amd tbird 1.2 on an ECS k7s5a. using the updated drivers.
The only problem i have is that i cant encode to divx, think my divx codec is bad... it'll only make files of 4.00 MB.

I don't know if this was addressed earlier, but i'm going to post this info anyway, just to be sure.

I bought this card last April (the non-delux) and it was certainly a good buy. You get a crap-load of features and the reception is really good. When it comes to video and audio input (for things like gaming consoles) you need an S-video connector and a "headphone-to-RCA" adapter, i'm not sure what the real name for it is, but imagine a typical headphone plug that splits into a white and red RCA audio connector. That, and you need a male-to-male RCA adapter (3 or 5 bucks from Radio Shack).

As for picture quality, here's screen grab from Cartoon Network (channel 44, the higher the channel, it seems, that better the quality). It's meatwad from Aqua Teen Hunger Force. This is as it captures it, unedited and such.
MeatWad's Screen Grab

As for encoding, at first i had a lot of problems, but that was fixed with the patch they provided, and now i'm recording my favorite shows like mad. The card itself runs pretty well, but it is a little taxing. I only have a dated PIII 667 w/256 MB RAM, and i notice some choppyness when opening other apps up at the same time, but nothing major. I can't speak for the FM/AM functions, as i never use them.

This card it well worth the price, and the software that comes with it may seem a little simplistic and cheesey, but you'd be suprised how effective it is compared to the other stuff i've tried. Hope this helps.

I'm running Windows XP Pro. No problems opening the FM tuner program; no problems using the FM tuner program; no problems running other programs and multi-tasking while the FM tuner program is running; no problems shutting down the FM tuner program. I wonder what is causing the contention with yourself and several others? Hmmm... :(

I don't see a remote on the "see it" link. Does it come with one? Thanks.
Yes, it comes with a remote control. :)

I have this card and it is fantastic....however, i can't get it to work with DScaler 4.01. I've basically selected all the tuners available and all i've gotten in a blue screen and the "No Channels" message.

Does anyone know how to set it up or know of a better TV tuning program for BT848 cards other than the included Winfast PVR?

Also, what settings do you guys recommend to record shows. I have a p4 1.3 GHZ, 384 RAM. Thanks!

New software package is out. The drivers look to be the same, but the software package is new. It has eliminated all the crashing in the program.

I have been having problems with sound however. When I turn on the the TV tuner application, the sound will be fine, but after a few mintues the sound will cut out completely. It only happens with the leadtek software, as my system sounds/winamp etc will still play fine. Anyone know what problems I may be having? I have an AMD 2000, 512 DDR ram, SB Audigy OEM, and I am running windows XP pro.

Edit: Installed the latest Audigy drivers, problem solved. The software works perfectly now, no bugs. Just curious, what quality settings do you guys use for recording TV programs?

I am not sure if you are having the same problems as I was, but the program released on the included cd seemed to be a bit buggy. Try updating the program to the latest release on the leadtek site Leadtek Winfast 2000XP driver site. Its the 9/25/2002 release, this includes the drivers (which seem to be the same version that came with the CD) but also includes an UPDATED version of the program. I installed it and reinstalled my audigy drivers and I haven't had a problem since. Hope this helps!

As for others who are having encoding difficulties with DivX i am in the same boat.... i can encode using the optimal mpeg2 quality setting, but I can't do the divX encoding on the fly...i don't think it should have anything to hardware limitations...i have an athlon 2000xp, 512 RAM....

Any suggestions?

This site has a lot of well written info, particularly the one on video capture. The "... it'll only make files of 4.00 MB"...........GB?......is a Fat32/Win98 problem I think. Split the capture or use NTFS is the answer if I remember correctly........slight data overload problem from my reading marathon on this subject. Winfast PVR works great for me playing TV and capturing from my VCR. Then I go to VirtualDub and do the divx compression. It's amazing how good the quality is at a reatively small file size.

I've had mine working with Dscaler 4.01 (Beta). Allow me to do a little research and see what was required to get it to work. :)

Has anyone used the original WinTV 2000XP and the Deluxe model. I'm consider getting the Deluxe model and selling my current one. The mono sound is really pissing me off. Can someone comment on the sound quality?

Hey, is it possible to do DivX encoding directly from a cable tv program. I want to record a SNL re-run from Comedy Central, but when I go to the capture settings and look at the list of video capture codecs, my divx 5.02 pro codec doesn't show up. When I go into VirtualDub it does show up (so I know it is there and working). Why won't it show up in the WinFast PVR software...can it do on the fly DivX encoding? Would I be better off just encoding in mpeg2 format and then going into Virtual-dub to compress it into a DivX file?

Also, for some reason when I record in the optimal quality mpeg2 format there is a thin fuzzy band/noise line at the very top of the screen...it doesn't happen at lower quality settings though??

Thanks for the help

This seems like a great card to me, but from the limited time that i have had to play, it is kinda picky about capture settings. Read this and you will know as much as I do. I use Huffyuv to capture and then VirtualDub to compress with Divx. Anyone else have another way to do it better?

I just installed my 2000xp Deluxe, and don't have an option to capture in Divx; does anyone have a link about how to set it up? I only have MPEG, MPEG2, avi (uncompressed), WMV, VCD, DVD I think.

You have to first have the codec installed and then you have to add it as an option in the settings.

Just a follow up regarding DScaler 4.01 with the Leadtek card:

1) When you set the software up for the card, you need to select "Philips-NTSC" as the tuner.
2) You then need to set your channels up: Channels --> Setup; select the cable system that you are using (e.g. - USA Cable Frequency); Then select the "scan" button to get the channel scan process running.
3) You should be watching TV within 3 minutes. ;)

Enjoy! :)

I posted this in Video, but this thread is the one that convinced me to buy this card so I assume there are a lot of interested folks here. Maybe one of you have some good answers / help for thses issues ;)

I've noticed a few weird things with this great little TV tuner, I have used Hauppauge cards in all my other (3) TV enabled systems and am used to the 640x480 resolution, so the higher res on this card for TV is nice. Anybody know what resolution this thing is doing when in full screen? I thought it was just the regular 640x480 but then when I hooked it up to my vid projector (which will only do 640x480) it would not sync up. I had to manually set it to 640 res in order to get it to play on my projector.

Here is one of the things that bugs me, when you record something and then later play it back there isn't (or I can't find) much of a fast forward feature - I want to skip through as much of the commercials as possible.
Is there something here I am missing? I can hit the "Next" button on the remote over and over and that goes forward a little faster, but I'd like to "go forward 30 seconds" or something like that.

Next, when I play back a recorded file in the TV player it is fine except the audio & vid go out of sync when you hit "Next" or "back" and you have to fiddle with it to get it back in sync.

Finally when I got near the end of a 2 hour recorded mpeg2 file (about 5 GB) the computer rebooted!!!
When it was ready to play again I couldn't find a way to play the file from somewhere near the end, I had to open it in Media Player to go to the spot near the end and play it from there.

2 issues with that, why the reboot (totally stock non-OC'ed AMD XP1800+ system - very stable) and why no "play from any point" feature in the TV playback software? (or where is it?)

TIA
