I recently returned from an AFROTC related event after having been in command of 10 other individuals. While managing the squadron I encounted vast amounts of flak from members over the most insignificant issues.
I was very hurt by their behavior and actions while I was there. I realize that some things can't be helped. However, as a friend summed it up to me, everyone had their own agenda and that was the major problem.
THUS I have come to the following: In order to be an effective leader, one needs to emphasis to his/her followers that in order for team success, they themselves must be willing to follow and regulate themselves for "we" instead of "I."
