Good friend of mine is also Cuban, came over during the boatlift, his real life accounts of life under Castro's rule were beyond distrubing......

Castro will never deal with the United States embargo or not. BTW just a little info on tourism from when I lived there you see all those hotels in Cuba most are owned by Castro since Castro does a 5 year deal on hotels where you can build it and make profit but after 5 years it becomes his hotel of course you can make another hotel for 5 more years.Thats why el Varadero is full of hotels even Cienfuegos. I still think Havana Libre is the nicest hotel but Cuban's can't stay in hotels its sad but Castro won't allow it unless you got military background.
 
The only ones hurting Cuba are Cubans. They removed Batista, they are quite capable of removing Castro.

Cuba does business with every other country in the world, including Canada. There's nothing they can buy from the US that they can't get somewhere else.

During the missile crisis, Castro was on the sidelines trying to get the Russians to nuke us. Even the Russians thought he was a lunatic. The man is not to be trusted, not for a second. You may as well open up full trade with North Korea if you're going to trade with Castro.
 
And the first time you spoke out about your new President's inability to (Fill-in-the-blank) you'd be thrown in prison for political crimes.

I thought us good christians were supposed ot wish well even of our enemies? Oh wait thats in the bible and doesn't support capitalism and hegemony, my bad.
 
It'd be nice if he was overthrown. I'm wondering if since the fall of the USSR that castro really doesn't have much political support.

Will capitalism open Cuba to democracy?

I ain't christian if you knew anything you'd know most Cuban's are cathloics and we all want to see Castro suffer. I saw my grandfather die infront of me in Cuba when we went to get food and were denied because we weren't "elite" my gramps got so mad he had a heart attack and died in front of me. I don't think Castro wishes him well.
