I'm no big fan of Drowning Pool, I saw them play at a local Radio station festival a few years ago, but I just got the latest issue of guitar world yesterday and was reading that the lead singer had passed away in late Auguest. Why wasn't there any publicity about this? Like I said, I'm not a big Drowning Pool fan, but still, the guy was really young and he was in a band that was trying to make a name for themselves. I guess the cause of death isn't known, at least by the person who wrote the article... anyone else know any details? I'd be interested in hearing more.

Looks.. like the band isn't going much further with their career...

...mind blowing.

Died on the tour bus. Choked on his own vomit after drinking too much.

Not a glorious way to go out.

I remember that original post too... kinda sucks, I actually liked the band a decent amount.. they werent my favorite, but not bad at all.

Sucks that this seems to happen to alot of good bands.. either death of a band member, or complete break up.... boooooo... :disgust:

Every music site mentioned his death. It isn't CNN headlines news type story.

Actually, if I am not mistaken they ruled that possibility out. I believe he just died of a heroin overdose like most other musicians that mess with that stuff.

EDIT: He was found dead in their tour bus. Not in a cement pond. Where do these rumors come from?

Electric is correct. My bad. The site I read said there were traces of heroin in his system.

The Prince William Police Department in Manassas, Virginia, are calling the rumors that DROWNING POOL frontman Dave Williams choked on his own vomit after a night of drinking "unlikely," according to the latest press reports.

So there is no official cause yet.

DROWNING POOL Singer Death Due To 'Natural Causes' - Sep. 25, 2002

DROWNING POOL frontman Dave Williams died naturally and not as a result of alcohol poisoning or a drug overdose, according to a source familiar with the results of the singer's toxicology tests.

The toxicology report is said to have confirmed for the coroner's office that the singer died of a heart problem, and his death certificate now lists natural causes as the primary cause of death, according to the source.

The 30-year-old singer was found dead in his bus bunk by members of DROWNING POOL's touring crew on August 14th. The band was in Manassas, Virginia, on its way to the next day's Ozzfest show in Bristow.

An autopsy conducted the morning after Williams' death proved inconclusive, and toxicology tests were ordered to be run in order to determine the cause of death.
