All I want to do is force my server to run SSL only and figure out how to do a ldapserach command using a user in the ldap database other than the Cn=Manager which is the root account,

Looks like the listen URLs are specified on the command line with the -h switch so find where that's set and change it, on Debian it's /etc/default/slapd.
