LCD's - Well whats the latest?

Well it seems the prices of LCD's are falling fast. Its strange though, the exisitng models seem to have stayed the same price, but any of the new models (with better specs) seems to be like $300-400 cheaper!

I'm looking to buy an 18 or 19" screen. Whats the best at the moment, I dont want anything other than 20ms or less response time and more than 600:1 contrast!

So whats out there thats new? any other new models coming very soon?

As far as i know, the only TFT with a responce time of less than 20ms in the Hitachi CML174SXW(Ivory) and CML174SXWB(Carbon).
They have a 16ms responce time.
17" screen size
DSUB & DVI connections (comes with both cables as well)

For what they can do, and the image quality, they are amazing value for money.
I own one, and now i wonder how i ever managed with a CRT.

I think it will be a while before you see a 19" with those response times. My samsung 191T is good, but for some colors i notice a large amount of ghosting. I play games and watch movies with no problems though.

The new hitachi is really cool, one of my friends got one and it puts mine to shame in response time. I like the bigger screen size of the 191T though, so I'm sticking with it. The hitachi is also over $600. This is pretty high for a 17" LCD. I think the cost for a 19" would be well over $1000. You'll probably be waiting for a while.

Are you sure? the Iiyama new 19" model has a 20ms response and 600:1 contrast. However, i was kinda hoping for other options too!

A year ago or so I read about a new technology called Feed Forward Driving (I may have that name wrong) that was supposed to really speed up the response time of LCD's but it never seemed to make it to market. Does anyone know what happened to it?

IMO, go for the hitachi, you wont regret it. If your worryed about screen size, then dont. I went from a 21" CRT to a 17" TFT, and i dont notice the difference. Apart from now being able to use my desk, as a desk. lol
