Sheesh - more work typing a response complaining about the lack of prices than it is just to look up the prices on the website.

Looks like a CTX 17" LCD is $559 at Sams, and a Samsung 17" LCD is $599. For what it's worth, I've got a 15" Samsung LCD and I like it quite a bit.

Can anyone find a review on the 17" Samsung LCD at Samsclub? Google (samsung 170s tft review) yielded nothing. Maybe the 's' stands for sam's club?

Price seems great....

there was a thread or two for cheaper, but involved rebates...

not bad for a 17" lcd and it looks very good. i myself am still stick on my viewsonic 17" crt. maybe someday ill upgrade.. :(

edit: doesnt seem to be listed on costco.com. only the sylvania 17" for $529.. last time i was at mine though (few weeks ago) they had the envision there

not too sound like an idiot. But a while back. Certain graphic accelerators would not work with flat panel/lcd screens. Is that still the truth. Can you still use it for 3d accellerated games.

Please do not flame. :)

Just for anyone who is interested in finding dead pixels. Someone wrote a small program that will blank your screen and change the color for you so you can search for dead pixels. (yes I know you can do it manually, but it is easier with this).

http://www.edgeworld.com/notebook/old/dead.htm

I have a KDS 15", and most of my dead/stuck pixels are on an all black background. Although I can really only see them up close.

thejammy, if your graphics card has an analog output and the lcd has an analog input, they can work together.

If your graphics card can connect to a regular CRT, then it has an analog output. Most of the cheaper LCD's have an analog input.

Fancier LCD's have a digital input. In this case you would need a graphics card with a digital output. Moreover, there are several different types of digital output, so you might need to buy a connector adapter gizmo in some cases.

Some LCD's have two inputs: one analog and one digital.

Botom line: if your graphics card works with a regular CRT, it will also work with a (somewhat cheap) LCD since the lcd will have an analog input.

LCD's work with 3D accelerated games, though nothing can beat the colors and response time of CRT's when it comes to games and movies.

I have the Samsung 760v (dell ~$550 + tax)... been using it a couple months. I love it. Clear text, bright. If you're using Windows XP, you'll want to use the ClearType feature instead of the standard. Minimal ghosting. Highly recommended.

Sam's Club in Long Beach, CA had the KDS Rad7 for $499 yesterday ($579 before the 1st).
