LCD woes...HELP!!!!

Hi all. My girlfriend has been in a bit of a computer updating frenzy. recently she bought a Sony LCD model SDM-X73 Not bad at all and pricey. It has both analog and DVI connectors. First of all we hooked it up to the analog video card she had it looked pretty good... refresh was a little slow. anyway she decided to upgrade to a DVI capable video card and got an ATI Raedon 9600 Atlantis 256Mb. When connected to the DVI it now has less color and clarity is poor to say the least . I was hoping for some suggestiong to fix it. I'm a complete rookie in this dept, and this is frustrating as he..

The motherboard is ASUS P4P800-E deluxe. running win xp home.
