LCD Widescreen or CRT

some modern game engines support 16:10 resolutions (source, crytek etc), but others don't currently allow it (BFII for competitive balance reasons, Doom III games [some do some don't], FEAR). so it is a mixed bag. but it is almost always possible to force a widscreen resolution (although not always a widescreen aspect ratio)either with the .ini file or by adding commands to the shortcut command line , and i would recommend getting a monitor that allows 1:1 scaling for those games that don't allow widescreen. I know that dell monitors allow 1:1 scaling, and I think some other companies do to. definitely worth knowing before you purchase...
