Personally I like both, I dual screen with a 21" CRT and a Dell 2005fpw. the dell is MUCH better for text and movies, but for games it is a toss-up. On the plus side, running the LCD at a non-native res does not really seem to hurt the IQ that much

lcds are alot better for the eyes because thay use a different technolgy and its better than the scan rate problem of crts. even at 60 hz there is no flciker on lcd screen, but that is extremely irritating to the eyes on a crt. alos, crts are heavy, take up room, and emit radion which isn't too great. but there better for gaming.

crts refresh and flicker, and that's worse for your eyes than just looking at a static image like an LCD. .

but wait, if lcd's have a refresh rate(they do), then they refresh/flicker as well right? and on my crt's, anything under 85 hz makes me dizzy so would that apply to an lcd as well with a much lower refresh rate?

No. LCDs do not refresh. The crystals in an LCD stay static until a display change is requested.

nice knight, some people needed to know that to get this straght. lcds have no scan rate, only a change in the static crystals which is considered still a refresh rate, but it doesn;t draw the screen from top to bottom.

The crt monitor does release an amount of radiation but tests have shown that it's much less than what you would recieve if you were to go outside and walk around, doing what the other "normal" people are doing.

It's a fact, if you would do more research yourself, check the radiation level emitted on the specific CRT, and you google up the average radiation level emitted by the ambeint world; outside and so on forth. I guess staying inside the office staring at the CRT is healither than going outside but your social life wouldn;t be as great. I'll post in the link after I find that again, it've been a few months since i read that.

I think it depends on the person. I don't get any eyestrain at all from CRTs. If you don't already with CRTs, then it won't make a difference for you.

Absolutely correct.
The people say CRT monitors put out harmful radiation needs a new set of tinfoil hats!

I just got a Samsung 710n-2-Black, and for some reason I find it harder on my eyes than my crt. I have tried native resolution, alternative refresh rates and such, and I just cannot get my eyes to adjust to it. Any recommendations from anyone here?
