LCD speeds for gaming

Doom Machine

i currently have 19" 8ms lcd, if theres ghosting i dont notice it.

i want to upgrade to a 27 or 30 inch this summer, most are 12ms or slower

how is 12-16ms speeds for gaming? is ghosting/blurring a problem or not

My 20.1" panel is rated for 16ms and I see no ghosting or bleeding at all. On my 19" LCD which is rated for 4ms, I see much more ghosting. It really depnds on the quality of the panel. The 20.1 is an 8bit and the 19" is 6bit, so that may be a factor too.

For the most part any LCD that has a 16ms response time no matter what color ghosting or blurring will not be a problem. My 4 year old dell monitor(was my old one) has is rated at 20ms response time but doesn't ghost at all just to give you a hint(although dell is known from producing excellent monitors). Sure if you buy a monitor from a shotty non-name brand company you might end up with ghosting problems but other than that this "ghosting" thing is like a thing of the past imo.

I have a 22" WS rated for 5ms. I play Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion on it and it performs great. I can't/don't notice anything like ghosting or bleeding.
