What's with these Ultra wide resolutions lately?

1366x768? 1920x1080?

I know manufacturers are trying to milk more money by advertising a larger diagonal screen size with a smaller area...but 768 pixels???

Also, what happened to 1680x1050 (WSXGA+)?

Also, where can I find a laptop with 1440x900 in a 12.1 or 13.3 form factor? Only the x200s or x300 seems to have that?
