Hey 2 questions is there much of a difference in performance between a video card that has 256 mb vs 128 mb of video ram

Also i was looking at getting the 6800 (Pny) We have dell lcds at work but they dont look that great. Then it hit me it may be the video card that isnt that great would a lcd combined with a 6800 have good quality when playing videos, games and general internet ? Or should i just stick with a flat crt?

256 MB will be better than 128 MB if the game has lots of big textures, but it's a waste of money for a lower-end card (like a 9600). A vanilla 6800 with just 128 MB of RAM will be just fine though. (Instead of the PNY, by the way, check out the BFG--pre-overclocked, lifetime warranty.)

For the flat panels it might just be the screens themselves. (I'd imagine your employer would not spend money on fancier 16ms displays, depending on what work you do there.) Either that or they aren't using the DVI connector, which is said to make quite a difference on LCDs. I doubt that the video card would make much difference except at the very lowest levels, but I'm probably wrong as usual
