OOS in SLC, UT. Picked one up in Murray, there was one left on the shelf. There may be more in back, dunno, didn't ask. I'll probably go back for the other one tomorrow, just for the LCD. The display is sharp but smaller than a GBA, and the sound is awful, even with a pair of headphones. It's a good deal for a 2.6" LCD, but sucks as a controller or as a portable Playstation display. There's no car adapter, which seems kind of like the obvious accessory to include (I'd have expected the wall wart to be the optional component). The buttons are really stiff, and you have to press them all the way down for them to register - that may improve as the controller gets broken in. It feels solid and well built, but it's not very fuctional. Good idea, poor implementation. There's a reason these are going for $20.

I plugged my sennheisers in and the sound was pretty decent. Maybe you have crappy headphones? Actually, now that I listen to it, there is a horrible amount of electrical noise, not too bad if you aren't picky.

And as for the people who are talking about the LCD, it is pretty clear for such a small display. It is small, but I am able to read the text just fine.

Well, I picked one up yesterday. I was playing some SuperLite 2000 UNO and I could read the english stuff, LOL. Still can't read the Japanese, no matter what the size is. Seriously though, the only problem with the screen is that you might not be able to read really small text. Everything else is really sharp. Very playable.

The buttons are pretty stiff, but they work. The analog controls are perfect, haven't really tested the digital pad.

OK, here's the deal man. The controller is a piece of crap and the screen is really small. But, for the love of Pete, it is only $20. I think it's a hot deal at that price. Well worth the money for a pretty cool toy! At $40? Maybe. At the origional $100? No way!!!!

BTW, the controller has 3 ends that need to be plugged in for those that are interested.

1. The controller port obviously
2. A/C adapter it is a female end, you plug in one of those big ol' block adapters
3. Video/sound port on back of playstation. this is male and female so you can piggyback the playstation a/v cable or more screen controllers, which I think is a nice feature. It plugs directly into the port, not into the the a/v cable.

😉

They do. It's $100. 😛 I saw 2 at the local CompUSA.

The GC ones are $29.99, if you can find them,
comes in a box not a blister package.

here is a list of some of my uses for those little screens...
Monitor for spycam mounted on RC plane & helicopter
Individual monitor for each of our security cam (using a electric switcher right now)
Rear view Cam for the van

I am looking to mount a small tripod to the bottom so i can have adjustable "feets"

anymore ideas??

these things look awesome. I have one of those 10-in-1 atari things you plug into the TV. I'm gonna attach the screen from this thing directly on it, and have me some portable oldskool gaming

edit: Question: Is the screen backlit?

Have any of you Arizona AT members checked the Mesa or Chandler Compusa stores? I think these are worth a try if I can find one for $20.

My local store shows both PS2 and Xbox versions in stock. May have to run down there and get one. I still have a Gamego 5.6" LCD I got from KBToys for $60 something but it needs a 13.5v ac adapter which I have to find. This would be kinda cool just to play with. Now if I only could stop playing Call of Duty and get back to Xbox...

I don't know how they can claim a 2.6 screen. It's a flat-out lie. The window for the screen is 2.25, and when taking the black space into account, the viewable image is only 2" diagonal.

Maybe this would work better for a child with a short armspan. An adult with long arms would have it too far away from their eyes. I am considering this for my 6 yr old.

out of stock in San Francisco, and San Bruno stores. Computer says they have 6 and 9 respectively, but they mysteriously can't be found...
Dude at the SF store let me place an order through the CompUSABusiness thing at the same $20 price, but he couldn't say if/when I'll ever get them.

then he tried to sell me an AOL subscription. ha!

edit: Anyone wanna sell me theirs? I'd like 2 Xbox ones...

edit#2: Nevermind, i found 2 at the Pleasonton, CA store. They have one left as of 4:30pm PST

3 in stock at 37+5th avenue manhattan(11am 3/17). Had to ask one of the guys in black shirts to go look in the basement/storage because the guys in red shirts were lazy aholes.

anyone know where on the pcb the brown wire (video -) is for the xbox version? On mine it is not soldered in anywhere so I was wondering if it was connected on anyone elses?

nice, grabbed one of these yesterday @ B&M, PS2 ver, didnt look or see XBox ver. Initial impression was quite good for the price, got it home and hooked it up, and now I want another,LOL. I was worried about the small screen, but as another post above mentioned, you can see quite clearly and the screen controls work great, thinkin of a mod project , however, I think I will get a second for "regular" duty. oh btw, you can hook 4 of these together linked apparently with the port x-pander module (found elswhere for around $12) I dont think you get an individual screen(which would rock) however it seemed slightly "neat",lol. Anyway, yeh the controller part of it isnt up to par with the sony, but for $5 LESS and a LCD screen with speakers built in, I dont know how to argue,LOL.

I played a few rounds of Wipeout3 ;p worked great.

Which PCB? screen side? or the controller side? On the screen side it should be right next to the yellow wire. I'm not too sure bout the controller side, but i remember all the wires from the LCD lined up neatly in a row, if it's from that sides, I'm sure you'll see where it belongs with the others.

I took one of my ScreenPads, and disconnected the screen fromt the controller and will be using the screen for an elcheapo ghetto portable DVD system.

Hey ApacheXMD,
Cool stuff dude, wish i have time to put together all the 'pending" projects i have.

This is the DVD player I am using in the car.
Uses a 12 volt wall wart, I have a 12v car adaptor that is split for both the screen and dvd player. Purchased this player last year at a target clearence for 24.44. Plays everything

I picked up the last 2 for the Gamecube earlier today in Auburn Hills at $30 each. Nice... now what the hell should I do with them? Mount one in the bottom of my beer stien?

you know what I just realized? I have been going to your site, apachexmd, for a while now to read your cool stuff. Thanks for all the tutorials on stuff! Only thing is, in my controller, screen side, the wires aren't lined up on the PCB, but I'll figure it out just fine, thanks for all the info!

On the screen side of things, the brown wire is supposed to right next to the yellow wire.

if you can't figure things out, I can send you pics of my controller. PM me if you need em.
