So I just got two Dell 2007WFP S-IPS screens. These cost me a lot of money and I plan to use them for a while, so I want to make sure they stay in top shape.

I've only had them a couple of days so obviously I haven't really needed to clean them or anything yet. However, I'd like to know what the best way is to clean this monitor, especially considering the fact that it has an anti-glare coating which I would like to preserve. I'd probably need some type of screen wipes? Will any kind work okay or a specific kind that other users find good?

Is there anything else I should do to maybe protect the screens, or basically anything else you'd suggest? Thanks. All input appreciated!
 
Microfiber/lint cloth and distilled (soft) water. I'm a bit of hypocrite...I just use faucet water and a (nondegrading) T-shirt and it works well. It does take some time, and since my LCD has a glossy coating, I have to use rotating patterns to truly cleanse it of all skin oil patterns.
 
Surprisingly, these things are low to no maintenance. I was like you when I first shelled out over $300 for my LCD; went paranoid and covered the thing up every night, cleaned the dust off regularly. After a few months, I just got lazy and stopped. Now, over a year on without even a cover/dusting, there's no visible dust stuck on the screen, no technical problems. Only cleaning it gets now is the very visible dust on the base every month or so.

Thats what I use too.
Water+some soft cloth.

Interesting. I have a laptop where I can't seem to keep all the nasty grime and dust and stuff off the screen. It sure is glossy now (which is terribly annoying) and if I recall correctly it started off that way, but my desktop screens are anti-glare and I want to keep em that way.

I have a ton of microfibre cloths so I guess I should be okay with just water? That won't mess up anti-glare coating? Hmm...
 
I use Windex and whatever paper towel is handy. Zero scratches in 15+ years of using plasma/lcd screens on notebooks and desktops.
 
I have no idea why ppl have to touch their monitor. Not saying any of you do but its just funny. I don't care to to let ppl on my PC but if I see anyone touching the screen I simply tell them not to. They don't have to touch the screen to point stuff out. I hate telling ppl not to but if I have to come off rude to help keep my LCD from becoming damaged I will. Either way it might be in your manual on how to clean it. My Viewsonic did. It just said to use a lent free cloth, warm water and not to apply alot of pressure. Of course turn the monitor off first.

I would just buy a LCD cleaning kit from Best Buy,Office Depot,ect if you want to to be on the safe side.
 
I'm fortunate in that not many people come near my home PCs besides yours truly, but at work people always come by and stab their fingers into my display to point something out. I cringe each and every single time. At home I'm very anal about not touching my screen.

My nephew bought me a cannister of lint free electronics wipes for Xmas. Good kid 😀

My GF (god love her) used Windex to clean my CRT monitor and it completely destroyed the surface. $400 monitor down the tube.
 
Underwear / distilled water used here.

Emphasis on using CLEAN underwear, sweat and other bodily fluids on them make for a pointless use of distilled water.
